2021 MLB Draft: A draft-eligible sophomore and the Most Outstanding Player of the 2021 College World Series, Bednar is a fierce competitor with major league bloodlines. Pitching from a high-3/4 slot, he has a high-spin fastball that ranges from 92-97 and gets swings and misses up in the zone. He pitches with conviction to all quadrants with the fastball and his breaking ball has sweeping shape with tight spin that tunnels off the fastball to his glove side when thrown at its best. It's a swing-and-miss offering that plays up thanks to his elite fastball. He has the potential to become a front-of-the-rotation starter with two plus pitches, a repeatable delivery and strike-throwing ability.
6/15/18
Six-foot-2, 210-pound RHP had a breakout junior season going 8-0 with a 0.64 ERA. Struck out 120 batters in 66 innings of work while only walking 11. Consistently sat in the low 90s while also commanding a cutter at 86-87. Curveball shows significant downward plane at 65-66, but is not used with regularity.
4/22/17
Six-foot-1, 210-pound RHP sat at 83 while touching 84 mph with considerable arm-side run in one inning of work. CB 65-66 was somewhat inconsistent on this day although showed the makings of a quality out pitch at its best with 11-5 shape. There is moderate effort to delivery. Velocity gains are imminent as the sophomore continues to grow into his sizable frame.
