Summer Update: Class of 2019 Rankings

Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

As members of the  Pennsylvania Class of 2019 begin their summer schedules and prepare for their final year of high school baseball our latest update to our state rankings includes the addition of 30 new players and a new player at No. 1. The current list now stands at 200 players with 67 players having already announced a college commitment. Look for that number to grow significantly by the next update to the rankings in this class in September. An update to the current PBR Class of 2019 overall rankings will follow in the near future.

Following an impressive 8-0 junior season that saw him strike out 120 batters in 66 innings Mars Area right-handed pitcher Will Bednar has moved to No. 1 in this class. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Ohio State recruit consistently sat in the low 90s this spring while topping at 95 mph. He gave up just 39 hits on the season while displaying advanced command with only 11 walks and a 0.64 ERA. In addition to his explosive fastball, Bednar also utilized an mid-80s cutter and upper 60s curveball to keep hitters at bay.
