Newmyer had a very successful 2013 high school season being named to the 1st Team Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division as a pitcher and as a 2nd Team pitcher on the All-Sentinel Team.
2/16/14 Newmyer is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound righty that has shown continual progress over the past two years. He sat 83-86 out of a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm, slinging motion. His fastball showed late life and arm side run. Newmyer has worked hard to develop his secondary pitches. The unsigned senior showed command of his 11/5 breaking 74 mph curveball and a feel for his 74 mph changeup. The changeup is thrown at fastball arm speed and had run and sink to it.
11/2/13 Newmyer sat 81-83 from a 3/4 arm slot, touching 85 mph. He has a long, loose arm action that allows for arm side run to his fastball and his 75 mph changeup that is thrown at near fastball arm speed. Newmyer also commanded a 73 mph 11/5 curveball that has a looping break. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound righty, ranked No. 146 in the PA Class of 2014, has shown continual development and with his projectable frame should continue to see velocity gains for some time. Newmyer displayed accurate throws of 80 mph across the diamond with the same long arm action he incorporates on the mound. The right-handed hitter displayed a bat exit velocity of 86 mph and the ability to barrel the baseball frequently in batting practice.
9/15/13 Newmyer is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect with a projectable frame. He sat 80-82 from a 3/4 arm slot with some arm side run to his fastball. The uncommitted senior also commanded a 69 mph 11/5 breaking curveball and a 71 mph changeup. The changeup was thrown at fastball arm speed and showed arm side run as well. Newmyer worked three innings at Slippery Rock University yielding one run on two hits with two strikeouts.
2/23/13 Newmyer showed some mobility and a long armed throwing motion across the infield on throws of 76 mph. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect hit out of a square stance and showcased good extension to his swing. Newmyer displayed an 84 mph bat exit velocity in a solid round of batting practice. He showcased a fastball with some arm-side run that sat 80-81 during his bullpen session. He also commanded a 10/4 sweeping curveball and a 69 mph changeup with heavy arm-side run. Newmyer has shown continuous progress in the past six months and appears primed for a significant bump in velocity.
1/13/13 Newmyer had an impressive day in nearly every facet of the game. He showcased improvements in nearly every statistical category and showed signs that he has additional gains in store. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect showed soft hands and improving arm strength on throws of 78 mph across the diamond. He had a very solid round of batting practice utilizing an 82 mph bat exit velocity to drive the baseball consistently. He really impressed in his bullpen session. Newmyer commanded three pitches and showed a greatly improved fastball that sat 80-82 mph with late life and arm side run. Newmyer also commanded his 68 mph curveball and 72 mph changeup from a 3/4 arm slot. Newmyer has shown a 5-6 mph spike in velocity since we first saw him in June and shows indications that he has an upper 80's fastball in his future.
10/11/12 Newmyer showed good hands and range at 3B with throws of 77mph across the infield. He used a solid 83mph bat exit speed to square the baseball consistently during his round of batting practice. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound RHP worked a scoreless inning in Game #1 topping out at 79mph from a 3/4 arm slot. Newmyer gets good arm side run with his long, fluid delivery and throws a 68mph changeup at near fastball arm speed. As Newmyer develops physically he should see continued gains in velocity.
9/26/12 Newmyer had a solid showcase workout with a bat exit speed of 81mph and one of the top infield arms at 77mph. The 6-foot, 175-pound junior worked four innings on the mound during game play. He showcased a 78mph fastball and a 69mph changeup, both of which had good arm side run. He also displayed a 69mph curveball. Defensively Newmyer showed soft hands and good range to go along with a good arm.
8/22/12 Newmyer is a solid 6-foot, 170-pound prospect with a long, loose throwing motion. He showed the ability to make all plays at third base and showcased good carry on throws of 72mph across the infield. Newmyer displayed a 78mph bat exit speed velo during a round of batting practice that saw him drive the baseball consistently. He used a solid lower half to consistently square the baseball. From the mound he utilized a long, loose high 3/4 arm slot to get hard, late arm side run on his 78mph fast ball. He also showcased a 65mph curveball with 10/4 rotation and a 70mph changeup with some run. Newmyer displayed control of all three pitches and the promise of added velocity as he adds to his 6-foot, 175-pound frame.
6/14/12 Newmyer topped out at 76 mph with a high 3/4 arm delivery. His fast ball had late run out of a tall, loose delivery. Newmyer also displayed the ability to play through the ball at his infield position with a top velocity of 70 mph across the infield. Offensively he displayed a balanced setup and a level path to the baseball producing line drives consistently.
