The 5-foot-10, 155-pound shortstop has been a consistent worker over the years. Average, proportional frame with room to add mass. At the plate, balanced stance with minor hand load and coil leg kick while generating solid bat speed. Not a flashy pop hitter, but strings together quality at bats and a consistent producer in the table setter role of the lineup. Line drive hitter looking to spray and use his legs to put pressure on defenses (7.09 sixty in ‘20). Strong defender with good footwork and trusts his hands. Presents the glove well with crisp transfers and average arm strength with great accuracy. Cloer hasn’t shown over the top tools, but he’s been a staple of consistency as a steady progressor, who can pick it and handle the stick.
7/21/20
5’10, 155-pound middle infielder improved his IF velocity since the last time we saw him while running a 7.09 sixty. Medium, athletic, lean frame w/ projection. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, slightly crouched stance w/ quiet hands into a hanging leg kick to square and short hand load. Generates bat speed through the zone, more bat speed than exit velocity would indicate (had some of the top average distance per Trackman). All fields approach w/ lot of line drives when right. Projectable pull power type as body matures. Defensively, shows soft hands w/ solid footwork, plays through the ball well w/ projectable carry to target arm strength.
1/19/20
5-foot-10, 155-pound lean frame. In the box, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. Begins in an open stance with a wrapping load, then uses a leg kick before his swing. Had an uphill swing plane and extension on his finish. In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 76 mph; has a fluid exchange, sure hands and athletic footwork. Movements laterally were athletic. Had a quick arm action and a ¾ slot. During the event, he recorded a 60 time of 7.36.
