7.23.18
Spencer has a wiry, quick-twitch, still developing frame at 6-foot, 150-pounds. Starting from a tall, slightly open stance, the right-handed hitter loads back smooth as his hands work back with rhythm and he takes a short stride forward. Relaxed hack with rhythm, quick hands, Spencer has some whip in his barrel, working on a slightly uphill plane with a loose finish. On the infield, the smooth actions, rhythm and footwork are excellent for his class. Quick first step, good tempo, soft hands out front as he plays low through the ball. Easy transitions into an arm stroke that is accurate from different slots, starts the pivot with ease and he can throw on the run. The footwork, actions, and swing are there, look for him to make even more jumps as he adds strength throughout his frame.

02.19.18  Wiry, high-waisted, athletic, still developing frame. Spencer may be young, but he has the presence and actions on the field that should allow him to have success as he continues to develop and gain varsity experience. The freshman took a good hack on a 90 mph fastball, flying out to right field. On the mound, he battled through his inning of work, showing a quick arm stroke from a high-¾ slot. His fastball sat 81-82 mph and flashed arm side run. Threw a 70-71 mph curveball that flashed depth and 10/4 shape. After his right fielder gunned down a runner at the plate, Spencer immediately pointed to his teammate and climbed back on the mound.

10.21.17
Spencer has a wiry, athletic, still developing, high-waisted at frame 5-foot-11, 135-pounds. Just a freshman, he shows all the makings of a young shortstop with a bright future. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance while his hands sit in a relaxed setup with rhythm, then trigger back past his back shoulder. Simple load into a short stride, lands balanced with good separation and a slight front arm bar. Short, flat path to contact as he transfers high weight efficiently. Has good feel for the barrel, uses the whole field with a line drive approach as the barrel stays in the zone a long time. Posted an exit velocity of 82 mph off the tee and singled sharply to right field during the game. On the infield, Spencer has smooth footwork and advanced actions for his class. He takes efficient routes and has good feel for picking the right hops. His hands works well out front with smooth glove actions. Quick transfer to the mid-line as he continues to gain ground to throw with a loose arm swing and accuracy, that should make it easy for him to add to his current velocity across the infield (82 mph). Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash.

09.10.17
5-foot-11, 135-pound frame. Spencer started the game on the mound, working 79-80 mph from a high-¾ slot with a clean arm swing. His changeup was 74 mph, while his curveball flashes depth at 67 mph. The best part of Spencer's game are his actions at shortstop, which are solid for his age and frame. He has soft hands, rhythm in his footwork, and a fundamental fielding position with his hands out front.
