Really like the setup in the box for Halligan, working from a slightly open stance with relaxed hands. Hitting in the three spot for The Twelve Halligan jumped on a fastball yesterday with runners on second and third and hammered it to deep right field. Off the bat, it looked as if it had a chance to leave the yard, but it ended up an RBI sac fly.

10.21.17
Halligan has a strong, sturdy frame for a freshman at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds. The left-handed hitter has has a good overall feel for hitting with loose-quick hands and an exit velocity of 85 mph. He starts from a relaxed, tall, open stance, smooth load as he triggers his hands, then strides forward toward the mound, landing square. Does a nice job of keeping his hands back, rides his legs with a linear weight transfer. Loose-quick hands with a short, flat path, whips the barrel through contact with a loose finish. Handles the ball on the outer half, but can also pull his hands through to get to an inside fastball and elevate to the pull side. During the game, he smoked a fastball back through the middle for a single. In the outfield, Halligan plays through the ball with quickish footwork and throws from a short, high-¾ slot at 75 mph. At first base, he has smooth footwork, plays low, shows good footwork around the bag with a clean, quick exchange on feeds to second base. Has a feel for throwing from different slots with accuracy from a ¾ slot when starting the double play to second base.

07.25.17
Halligan has a strong frame for his class at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds. The left-handed hitter starts from a tall, open stance, smooth-early load back, long stride, partial dive as his weight shifts to his front side early and he walks away from his hands. Average bat speed for his class, mostly ground balls during batting practice, cuts himself off with a flat finish. At first base, Halligan made quick, strong throws to second base when coming off the bag. Throws from a high-¾ slot with a short arm stroke at 73 mph. Longer exchange when throwing to third base. Average hands and footwork for his class that should continue to improve as he develops.
