HP Scout Day Sept. 2018 McCaffety showed off his power during batting practice, launching a home run to right field and another off the very top of the wall that kicked back in. It’s an easy swing with low effort, rhythm and natural lift from the left side. Although he did not pitch on Sunday, McCaffety is also a viable option on the mound as he can pound the zone and has feel for three pitches.
07.02.18 McCaffety took some good swings in game one on Thursday for the Hunter Pence Baseball team, and then broke through in Friday’s game with two big knocks. The 6-foot, 185-pounder is patient at the plate with balance. Setting up open and in a slight crouch, he squares off early with a short stride and minor hand movement before working flat through the zone with a high finish. He banged a double off the wall in right field before knocking in two run with a two out single that was stroked to left-centerfield. McCaffety shows signs of being able to drive the ball from gap to gap, and though he has some natural strength throughout his frame, he still shows signs of adding to it in the future.
