Bezanson

LHP/OF Bradyn Bezanson (Hudson, 2024) created momentum in the spring, in which our staff got multiple looks at the prospect from northwest Wisconsin. On Tuesday, the sturdy 5-foot-8, 195-pound athlete followed his season up as a winner of the showcase, demonstrating his two-way abilities at a high level. It started at the plate for Bezanson, where a simple and calm presence in the batter’s box translated to a powerful barrel, which presented accuracy throughout his BP session. The same traits were illustrated within the game action as well, where Bezanson started his day with a barreled single from the left side of the plate. During the rest of his showcase, the left-handed thrower reached 88 mph from the outfield with a repeatable throwing motion, demonstrating his consistency on the defensive end. To end his day, Bezanson got up on the mound and showed a slight velocity bump, reaching 85.5 mph with the fastball. In his one inning of work, the left-hander mixed an effective plethora of offspeed pitches, highlighted by a fading changeup, thrown mostly to right-handed batters. The tools Bezanson harnesses set himself up for success throughout the rest of the summer and into the beginning of his senior year while still remaining uncommitted.

Body: 5-8, 195-pounds. Strong, compact build with a thick lower half.
Hit: LHH. Upright set up, narrow, lands balanced into controlled move to center, hitterish look.  Simple with barrel accuracy. Flat through the zone, backspun the baseball with gap-to-gap feel and juice off the barrel.   mph bat speed with  G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 88 mph. 345’ max distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 88 mph. 3/4 slot, quick arm, repeats.
Defense: One hand gather, shuffle step towards target, athletic.
Run: 7.76 runner in the 60.

Delivery: Stretch only. Medium, slightly closed leg lift. Slightly open stride with closed foot.
Arm Action: LH. Full arm loop into 3/4 slot.
FB: T85, 84-85 mph. Run with some life.  T2118, 1992 average rpm.
CB: 72-73 mph. Slows delivery. Tight spinning action.  T2340, 2228 average rpm.
SL: 74-74 mph. Tight sweeping action. T2020, 2020 average rpm.

Bezanson is a stocky 5-foot-8, 185-pound pitcher who impressed in his one inning of work on Tuesday. One of his more impressive stats from the day came from the movement on his FB, showing the ability to miss barrels. There was -22.2 inches of horizontal movement on Bezanson’s FB on Tuesday, ranked as the most horizontal movement among all of the pitchers at Tuesday’s showcase. In gameplay, he struck out one batter and did not give up a hit. FB sat 79-81 mph, topping at 82 mph. Also mixed in a SL between 65-67 mph and a CH in the low 70s.

Defense: Choppy footwork and takes time to release. Average glove and stays low

Positional Profile: LHP/1B; Among the top ‘24 arms we saw this past winter.
Body: 5-7, 165-pounds. Athletic frame, strong lower half.
Delivery: Tall/fall type pitcher from the left side. Stretch only pitcher toes the rubber from the far right side. Has good balance and flashed some rhythm. Uses level shoulders and stays in line. Athletic finish. Easy effort.
Arm Action: L/L. Low 3/4 arm angle. Average arm speed. Long arm action.
FB: T82, 79-82 mph. Two-seam FB with very good spin rate at 2400-plus max. Good run with some hard and heavy actions. Flashed some occasional two-plane sink as well. Plus pitch for age. T2437, 2364 average rpm.
SL: 64-65 mph. 2/8 shape with sweep potential. Flashed sharp late action. Projectable pitch. Good spin rate.  T2649, 2605 average rpm.
CH: 68-70 mph. Thrown at near FB arm speed. Hard ASR and sink action showed late. T1582, 1422 average rpm.
