PBR Junior Future Games: One of the top overall performances of the day came from C/MIF Grady Cheever (Germantown, 2027). Starting offensively, the switch-hitting backstop took a clean round of BP, utilizing a loose swing to consistently drive the ball from gap-to-gap, and topped at 89.2 mph on his hardest hit ball of the day. Behind the plate he was equally as impressive, marking pop-time lows of 2.04 which was the lowest of the group. Cheever also offers some high upside on the bump as we have seen him run his fastball up into the high-70s, with feel for multiple offspeed pitches and will certainly see some time on the bump this week.

Cheever swung a hot bat on Saturday from both sides of the plate. The switch-hitting catcher displayed a smooth swing that sent a ball over the right field wall from the left-handed box. On the right side, Cheever pulled a ball down the line that resulted in him landing an extra-base hit. Ended the game 3-for-3. Advanced instincts behind the dish defensively. Cheever showed up yet again later in the weekend, this time in a semi-final game to keep his squad alive. Cheever came in to close the game and went two and two-thirds innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three. On the other side of the ball, he sent his team to the championship game with a two-run-walkoff single up the middle. The timely hit capped off a 3-for-4 day for the 2027 grad.

Dynamic player that showed well on both sides of the ball for PTA Cardinal on Thursday morning. Found multiple barrels at the plate going 2-for-3 out of the three-hole and playing a solid shortstop. Athletic swing that stays on plane and in the zone. On the mound, he attacked hitters with a heavy dose of fastballs to both sides of the plate. Fastball sat in the mid-to-upper 70’s and topped at 78 during his two-inning save.
