Team Wisconsin 14U: Workout Day, Quick Hits

From July 25th to July 30th, the Prep Baseball Report staff will run the PBR Junior Future Games at the state-of-the-art LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Georgia.

The 10th Annual Invitation-Only event will feature the best identified 2027-2028 prospects from across the PBR Coverage Area in a five-day event at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA. Participants will be given the unique opportunity of competing against other top-level players while representing their respective state in a high-level atmosphere.

This event will run in conjunction with the PBR Future Games. The Future Games features the top uncommitted players in the Class of 2025 and 2026 from across the Prep Baseball Report’s 40+ state coverage area. It is one of the most highly recruited events of the summer and attracts more than 300 college coaches from across the country each year.

This one-of-a-kind event will include individual workouts and a 4-game guarantee with single elimination bracket play to determine a champion in each age group.

QUICK HITS

+ C/OF Levi Boivin (Neenah, 2027) is a physical, 6-foot, 185 pound, right/right prospect that showed well at Tuesday’s Junior Future Games workout. With a maximum exit velocity of 86 mph, Boivin projects to be a middle-of-the-order impact bat with projectable physicality. With some sneaky athleticism, the backstop will look to impress this weekend while representing Team Wisconsin.

+ One of the top overall performances of the day came from C/MIF Grady Cheever (Germantown, 2027). Starting offensively, the switch-hitting backstop took a clean round of BP, utilizing a loose swing to consistently drive the ball from gap-to-gap, and topped at 89.2 mph on his hardest hit ball of the day. Behind the plate he was equally as impressive, marking pop-time lows of 2.04 which was the lowest of the group. Cheever also offers some high upside on the bump as we have seen him run his fastball up into the high-70s, with feel for multiple offspeed pitches and will certainly see some time on the bump this week. 

+ MIF Jonny Deets (Aquinas, 2027) was one of the top performers on Team Wisconsin during its workout day. He’s a smooth defender with up-the-middle actions and above-average arm strength (78 mph) for his age. Deets’ slick defense complements his simple, athletic right-handed bat, with which he landed consistent barreled contact, low-lying liners to all fields. 

+ 3B Danny Flor (Oconomowoc, 2027) had, arguably, the most accurate barrel of any of Team Wisconsin’s hitters. Flor repeated line-drive contact up the middle of the diamond, pitch after pitch, and connected for his most authoritative contact to his pull-side gap. He’s a sturdy, reliable third baseman with the arm strength for his position, up to 79 mph across.

+ OF/3B Ira Hilbelnik (Cedar Grove-Belgium, 2027) is a very compact, strong right-handed hitter who synced up hard line-drives to his pull-side. It’s a simple, low-effort swing that averaged among Wisconsin’s top exit velocities, including an 89.3 mph high. Hilbelink is also a versatile defender who looks especially capable in the outfield, up to 81 mph to home, though he also showed soft hands and athletic footwork on the infield.

+ OF/LHP Mason Robertson (Martin Luther, 2027) is a lanky, athletic 5-foot-8, 140-pound player, who was floating around the outfield confidently with athleticism. The left/left prospect sprays line-drives around the diamond with loose hands/wrists that create bat speed. Roberston took a smooth round of BP and defense where his tools were on display. The twitchy two-way will look to impress this week at the biggest event of the summer at LakePoint this week.

+ After a hot start to the summer, SS/RHP Kyle Rogosienski (Muskego, 2027) put together an all-around performance at the Junior Future Games workout on Tuesday. The 5-foot-9, 130-pound, two-way profiles as an upside athlete with long levers. His athleticism was on full display as he showed athletic, fluid movement patterns in his defensive session and ran a 7.09 60-yard dash. Tossing 80 mph across the diamond, Rogosienski is an athletic defender with above average arm strength with carry across the diamond. At the plate, the left-handed hitter displayed a loose athletic swing with natural loft to his pull-side. Rogosienski will look to carry his success during his workout to live gameplay across the week against some of the top talent in the nation.

+ OF/LHP Prescott Sanford (Franklin, 2027) was all over the barrel in Tuesday’s workout and will look to impress for Team Wisconsin at the Junior Future Games this week. With a maximum exit velocity of 82 mph, Sanford’s line-drive approach during BP showed why his bat is a follow across the event. The left-handed two-way displayed athletic movement patterns in his fielding session where he was in the upper-70’s. After impressing at The Rock Summer Championships in early June, Sanford will look to build upon his performances this week.

+ After appearing at the Super 14, LHP/1B Cal Schneider (New Berlin Eisenhower, 2027) earned himself an invite to Team Wisconsin in Georgia this year. Schneider profiles as a 5-foot-9, 130-pound, projectable frame that will take the mound while donning the Wisconsin threads this week. Schneider took a smooth round of BP with a clean round of fielding at first. The lefty showed out at the South Milwaukee Rising Stars ID in March, and has been a high-follow since. A workhorse this summer for his travel team, Schneider will look to continue to impress at the biggest event of the summer. 

+ After standing out as a two-way prospect at The Rock, 1B/RHP Dylan Schreiber (Waukesha West, 2027) left his mark on the showcase scene at the LakePoint Sports Complex. With his long 6-foot-4, 165-pound frame, Schreiber took a quality round of BP during his time on the main stage in Georgia, averaging 210 feet per batted ball. The right-hander showcased smooth actions at the first base position, displaying range and illustrated his actions that earned him an invite to Team Wisconsin. His two-way abilities will continue to be on display throughout the rest of the week. 

+ C/OF Jack Spielmann (Milton, 2027) put together a quality all-around performance on Tuesday, standing at a projectable 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame. Behind the plate, Spielmann popped a 2.19-second throw to second base, showcasing his quick feet and an accurate arm, reaching 72 mph from the crouch. Offensively, Spielmann finished with a max exit velocity of 85 mph, preparing himself for a standout week on both ends of the field. 

+ Offering one the highest upside looks, OF/INF Chace Staude (Kettle Moraine, 2027) is slick left-handed hitting multi-position prospect who will certainly play a role for Team Wisconsin this week. His smooth left-handed bat found a handful of barrels throughout his round and we have certainly seen it play out in game. As for his defense, he topped at 80 mph on his hardest throw home and 77 mph from the infield, too. 

+ After showing well throughout the winter and in a starting appearance during the summer, 3B/RHP Charlie Wronski (Marquette University, 2027) landed himself an invite to Team Wisconsin in Georgia. Wronski, known for his prowess on the mound, put up competitive numbers in his BP session and defensive routine. At a 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame, Wronski barreled up multiple baseballs, presenting a short, quick swing. On the defensive end, the right-hander reached 80 mph from across the infield, finishing off a smooth round of fielding to end the night.
