4/17/16 - Louisville commit. 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with easy effort. Fastball sat 83-84 topping out at 85 mph. Two seamer showed heavy running action, riding in on RHH’s inducing swings and misses and weak contact. Curveball has short breaking action with 10-4 shape at 71-73 mph for strikes. Changeup has downer action at 77-78 mph.

5/12/15 - Verbally committed to Louisville.
2/8/15 - 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, typical pitchers build, projects well, big athletic frame. Tall and fall style delivery, works cleanly down the hill, stays directional, athletic finish. Arm action is loose, ¾ slot, regular effort. Fastball has hard late action, good run and finish through zone, filled it up well, showed the ability to command it, 85-87 mph. Slider has sweep, 10/4 action, occasionally got around it, 73-76 mph, good compliment to fastball. Changeup has good arm side action, fastball arm speed, good deception, 75-77 mph. McCarty projects well on the mound, his sturdy pitchers frame bodes well for him and has solid three pitch feel of the zone.
2/9/14 - Big strong build, strong lower half, 6-foot-3, 190-pound right handed pitcher.  Arm works from a high ¾ slot, quick arm, regular effort, works on line, balanced finish. Fastball has arm side run, hard late action, control of the zone, 82-83 mph. Changeup has well above average arm side run, near fastball arm speed, showed control of the zone. 74-75 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, tends to get underneath, 69-71 mph, could be a high level slider guy.
7/23/13 - Excellent frame, 6-foot-3, 185-pound, developed build. Currently McCarty looks to project better on the mound. He showed the ability to get a high rate of groundballs will his sinking heavy fastball. He uses a ¾ arm slot with regular effort to produce a 79-81 mph fastball. His fastball featured advance arm side action, working both with sink and lateral action, had a heavy feel with late life. Change up is his better secondary pitch, thrown with fastball similar arm action, showed the ability to control the pitch with fading life at 70 mph. Breaking ball still needs development at 69 mph. McCarty had a solid in game outing recording ground ball after ground ball. If McCarty can develop at this rate he has the potential to be a highly efficient, low pitch count, starting pitcher at the next level.
6/26/13 - Highly projectable tall, lanky, and athletic two-way player. McCarty displayed athletic actions defensively, fielding cleanly with fluid feet and a loose arm at 75 mph across the infield. His athleticism could project to multiple positions on the diamond.  He showed an approach at the plate with occasional gap power. McCarty hits from an open stance, rocking back in his load using a short stride. Makes use of his lower half and swings on a long uphill plane flashing some bat speed. McCarty has a smooth delivery off the mound, working with direction and a balanced finish. He has long arm action from a ¾ slot, fully extending out in front of his body. He has run on his fastball sitting 78-80 mph topping at 81 mph.  He had some feel for his 11/5 curveball, at 65-66 mph, and his changeup was thrown for strikes at 68-70 mph with arm-side run.  The 2016 grad is a two-way prospect to follow. McCarty also received an invitation to the Top Prospect Games at UIC.
