FAIRFIELD, CA - After Lincoln (Stockton) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, Rodriguez's Carlvessi Light recorded his second single to left which drove in one. Later in the 5th, DJ Scott drove in Light with a sac fly to tie the game. Lincoln's Josh Gentile drove in the winning run in the 7th with a base knock to give the Trojans their 8th win of the year.

SCOUTING NOTES:

2020 RHP/1B Victor Martinez - Rodriguez HS - Uncommitted; 6-foot-3,190-pounds, has good size but still room to use his size more effectively. On the mound displayed three pitches- FB 78-80 T81, CB 67-69, SL 70-72. Has the build and strength to increase velocity by letting loose on the mound, seemed like he was focusing more on command than velocity during game. Able to command his pitches well, stayed around the plate throughout his appearance. Tends to cut himself off with his glove hand which happens when focusing on location, so if he lets it loose on the mound I think he has more velocity. Offensively he has a slightly open stance, keeps his back elbow up, able to hit anything up in the one with power. Has pull side power with ability to stay on outside pitches and slap them to right field allowing him to hit for average as well.

2020 C Mario Hernandez - Lincoln HS - Uncommitted; 5-foot-10, 180-pounds with solid athletic build. Simple load with small stride puts him in good hitting position. Starts swing with his hips, hands follow through the zone with power. Makes contact out front allowing for extension and power, ability to hit hard line drives to all fields. Defensively, Hernandez is a pretty polished catcher. Has a strong arm and quick release, clocked at 1.98 and 1.96 pop time between innings, had one caught stealing during the game at third. Blocks very well too, has athleticism to move laterally to block, deadens the ball well, seems to understand the difference in blocking fastballs and breaking balls.

2020 OF D.J. Scott - Rodriguez HS - Uncommitted; 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, lanky but strong build with room to gain mass. Spread out wide stance, has subtle toe tap while getting to a very good load position, a little too much head movement backwards during stride, but has a quick bat and a powerful swing that allows the bat to whip through the hitting zone. Hits for average with some gap to gap pop but with his size and swing has the potential to be a power hitter.

2020 INF - Zach Bartles 2020 - Lincoln HS - Uncommitted; 5-foot-9, 150-pounds, athletically built with room to grow physically. Makes the routine plays at second base and short but can also make difficult plays look easy with his speed and athleticism. Offensively he is more of a contact hitter and looks to use his speed to put pressure on the defense. Has a big leg kick at the plate, would be able to use legs to generate more power if stride is shortened.

2020 SS Carlvessi Light - Rodriguez HS - Uncommitted; 5-foot-11, 160-pounds, athletic with natural talent and smoothness with the glove, can make the routine plays at short but is most likely is a very good second baseman at the next level. He has lots of speed and likes to cause havoc on the bases with his aggressiveness. At the plate he has an upright open stance and stays open as he strides. Keeps his head on the ball nicely, allowing him to make consistently solid contact, peppers the ball over up the middle and to his pull side using his speed to extend base hits to extra bases.
