7/24/19

NCA Top Prospect ID - XL frame with length in the lower half and lean, muscular build; strength in the frame but still space to keep growing (7.68 60-yd). Opened stance with hands at the back shoulder keeping a high back elbow; simple stride with scissor kick allowing back hip to drive through. Compact swing with direct hands having contact occur out in front of the plate; backspins the ball deep into the gaps and shows strength in the frame with HR power to the pullside (86 EV). Easy actions off the bag with the ability to play deep as well; athletic around the bag using his length to go scoop balls. Arm has length with ability to make every throw needed for position (85 MPH).

FB 82-83 T84, CHG 70-73, CB 67-69
Hands start at chest rising up with waist high leg kick before having small sit into back hip; drop and drive styled delivery with tall posture over the rubber and firm front leg upon landing finishing with high back leg. Longer stride and pushes body down rubber early; worked with better rhythm from the stretch on this. Hands have a hard break on knee with compact swing off stab out of glove using 3/4 release; extension out front. FB run to the arm side. CHG working off FB look with latter bottom mid-flight; projectable with FB. CB mixed between loose depth and shorter spinner into the zone for strikes; decent arm speed. Shows projectable frame that could make jumps with some minor tweaks to his motion add added strength.

4/16/19

vs Lincoln HS - Uncommitted; 6-foot-3,190-pounds, has good size but still room to use his size more effectively. On the mound displayed three pitches- FB 78-80 T81, CB 67-69, SL 70-72. Has the build and strength to increase velocity by letting loose on the mound, seemed like he was focusing more on command than velocity during game. Able to command his pitches well, stayed around the plate throughout his appearance. Tends to cut himself off with his glove hand which happens when focusing on location, so if he lets it loose on the mound I think he has more velocity. Offensively he has a slightly open stance, keeps his back elbow up, able to hit anything up in the one with power. Has pull side power with ability to stay on outside pitches and slap them to right field allowing him to hit for average as well.

1/13/19

Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Uncommitted, body type continues to look the part at 6-foot-3 185-pounds, angular and strong, much of what he does on the field indicates that he's a strong young man, on the mound has an overhand slot, good body control and strength is utilized well in his delivery, lower body works well and provides good stability, creates leverage with timing of his delivery, velocity should continue to steadily rise, fastball 82-84 mph in mid-January suggests a spike above that in warmer spring weather, showed feel of three pitches including 69-71 mph curveball with occasional bit and 12/5 action, solid feel of 71-74 mph change-up. All in all he's a good 2020 with a ceiling he's still not reached on the mound.

10/27/18

Long and lean, large frame with current muscles and length in lower half; a very projectable frame that can continue to add strength as he matures. Long legs move well; more agile than straightaway speed (7.81 60-yd dash). Tall stance with knees turned inwards and high back elbow; small movement back with hands as he strides creating separation and stretch in the upper half. Bat works on a slightly upwards path with the ability to drive deep into gaps and middle of the field; very quick bat flashes explosive qualities and future power (88 exit velo). Narrow feet with loose hips and glove that works down to up; agile around the bag and shows attacking approach with the ability to help infielders out showing soft hands at 1st base. Quick, compact arm with flashes of more when needing to get rid of the ball (81 mph).

8/25/18

PBR N CA Underclass Games - 6-foot-3, 185-pounds, long body and good frame though shoulder width is fairly average, young body that still has a way to get to physical maturity. Hip flexibility could improve so he can get to a better lift and have more agility on the mound. Stride is of average length and showed some inconsistencies with foot strike and direction. Arm works well, overhand, short backside arm action, hides the ball pretty well, delivery is athletic if not entirely polished. Can gather over the rubber better and longer. For as many things as he can improve, he’s still got a lot to like. Fastball run was there when he finished well. Curveball with 11/6 break and at times had LATE bite and bottom-out action. As a position player he’s also got talent. Balanced at the plate with an athletic swing, good bat speed and some pull side power. Aggressive nature in the box, quiet strong hands, fairly short to the ball with aggressive stride. Has power potential. Defensively his hands work and his feet are efficient around the bag, release can speed up but certainly a competent 1st baseman. Hopefully keeps playing as a two-way player through high school, he’s got a chance to pop either way.

6/12/18

PBR N. California Underclass Games Trials - Uncommitted. Well-proportioned 6-foot-2 185-pound two-way player with a strong athletic body type and good body control. On the mound he displayed the type of mound presence that exudes confidence and aggressiveness. Strong athletic delivery that he can repeat, with an on-line stride and good lower body stability. High-3/4 release and loose arm. Could work to finish his follow through better. Fastball got up to 83 mph and steadily ranged in the 82-83 mph range. Secondary pitches also showed well, with the curveball and change-up both playing well off his fastball. As a position player he showed a calm and simply offensive approach with projectable power. Good extension through the ball, love the simple set-up. Lower half delivers some energy from ground up and allows his hands to work easily. Bat speed and strength combine to provide power. Good footwork around the 1st base bag and a strong arm. Confident player with chance to pop as prospect on mound or as a player.
