Our National Class of 2023 Rankings were released for the first time last week with 28 players coming from the state of Florida. This class is full of young, talented ballplayers who have stood out before ever taking the field for their high school team. Today, we will debut our initial Florida Class of 2023 rankings. This least features 60 of the top high school freshman in the state of Florida. This list is sure to grow over the next four years as more and more talented players continue to stand out. Let’s take a look at the top five players in the Florida Class of 2023.

Coming in as the top player in the initial Florida Class of 2023 rankings is UTIL/RHP Aidan Miller (JW Mitchell). Miller is one of the most talented 2023’s in the country and can do it both on the mound and at the plate. He has the athleticism to play any position in the field with quick hands and a gap-to-gap approach at the plate. On the mound, he can run it up into the upper 80’s with above-average secondary stuff. Overall, his ceiling is extremely high.

Aidan Miller

At the number two spot is RHP Brandon Olivera (Mater Academy). Olivera is a 6-foot, 175 pound right-hander committed to the University of Miami. Athletic frame with plenty of room for growth. Olivera’s fastball is already up to 87 mph as a freshman, and will continue to see that number increase as he moves through high school. Powerful arm with a lot of upside.

Coming in at #3 is LHP/1B Jackson McKenzie (Pace). McKenzie is a strong bodied left-hander committed to Mississippi State University. 6-foot-1, 190 pound frame. Another top two-way player that can do it both at the plate and on the mound. On the mound, McKenzie is a consistent strike thrower who works from a ¾ arm slot. Fastball sits 81-83 mph and can run it all the way up to 86 mph. Strong feel for his secondary pitches. At the plate, McKenzie is an offensive force. Has the ability to hit the ball to all fields with raw power potential. Very high ceiling as a two-way player.

At #4 is SS Stone Russell (IMG Academy). Russell is a tall, 6-foot, 180 pound shortstop who recently committed to the University of Florida. Russell is a gap-to-gap hitter with above-average bat speed who is constantly hitting balls hard. Russell stood out all summer long and was one of the top players at this year’s PBR Junior Future Games, registering a 97 mph exit velocity at the event. He has a very high offensive ceiling.

Stone Russell

Rounding out our top five is SS Cade Kurland (Berkeley Prep). Kurland is an athletic 5-foot-11, 175 pound shortstop committed to the University of Florida. Kurland stands out defensively with advanced movements at short and an above-average arm. Finds a ton of barrels at the plate with above-average bat speed. All-around player with high ceilings on both sides of the ball.
