Report 2/2/16 - North Carolina signee. 6-foot-4, 190 pound right hander with a tall athletic projectable body. Loose live quick arm at a ¾ arm slot. Arm is short in back and hides ball in back to create deception. Lands slightly across the body. Fastball was 89-94 mph with late life down in the zone. Flattened out a bit when he got the ball up. Ball really jumps down in the zone. Curveball was ML average and mostly a ¾ breaker but occasionally was a downer with depth at 73-75 mph. Showed a very good changeup in warmups at 78-79 mph with the same fastball life, but didn’t use it in the game. Threw 3 innings and was mostly 90-92 mph the first 2 innings and 93-94 mph the last inning with a better curveball at 75 mph. His stuff was better when he gets his release point out front. Gave up 1 hit and 3 K’s. A good start to the season. Should be a first round pick.
