The 2021 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. That excitement may be at an all-time high entering this high school season as the 2020 high school baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season during an offseason unlike any other and as always, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the TSSAA Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams.

We start diving into the Preseason Power 25 Rankings, highlighting some of the deepest clubs across the state. Although we could have done 40+ clubs with so many talented teams getting tuned up for the 2021 season, we can only rank 25 and this list will continue to change as the season plays out on the field.  There will be teams not on the list that will be battling for a state championship come late May, so take it for what it's worth, as no championships have ever been won on paper.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Outlook:

'22 OF/LHP Kaden Martin made a splash to kick off March announcing his dual sport commitment to University of Miami. The number one prospect in TN 2022 class will look to lead the Fighting Irish into a transition to D2-AA classification after a few years in the tough AAA district four.  The Fighting Irish posted back to back 20+ win seasons in AAA, and they'll have a tough task ahead joining Baylor and McCallie in East Region.  However, they have some serious pieces behind Martin that will make them very competitive on a nightly basis with depth at multiple positions. Few seniors on the squad, but '21 C/3B Emery Wright (Uncommitted) is an outstanding leader with great presence and exceptional bat in the middle of the order and should be a key clog behind the dish for the staff.  Speaking of pitching,  '23 RHP/SS Daniel Parris (Tennessee) slots to be the ace and has a great arsenal with good pitchability.  Parris flashed an upper 80s FB with two strong secondary pitches whiles showing ability to easily navigate through lineups with Martin contributing on the bump as well.  Parris will also handle duties at SS where he flashed a good glove and "sneaky" range. Jr. OF Spencer Margolis has a good toolset using a combination of speed and power to clean up the bases behind the big dogs.  Jr UTL Landon Lutterman should provide depth at multiple positions, filling in as needed with Jr RHP Michael Casey providing spot start or coming in relief.  After that the Fighting Irish will rely on a deep class of underclassman, keep eyes on '23 1B/LHP Ian Hubbard and '24 OF/RHP Matt Heflin to emerge as crucial pieces this season among others.

Best of luck this season!
