2016 PBR Third Team All-State

Today’s rollout of the 2016 PBR Third Team All-State concludes our coverage of the 2016 high school season. Following the completion of the season we updated the High School Power 25. We also named Providence Catholic’s Mike Madej the Player of the Year, updated the final 2016 rankings and selected three All-State Teams.

Let’s take a look at the 2016 PBR Third Team All-State roster:

Pitcher

Drake Fellows, Joliet Catholic, 2016
Vanderbilt commit. Went 8-1 on the season with a 1.00 ERA. In 56 total innings pitched he allowed 40 hits and struck out 93 batters. At the plate Fellows hit .424 with five doubles, a triple, a home run and 26 RBI.

Jack Lambert, St. Charles North, 2016
Parkland JC commit. The ace of the staff for No. 5 St. Charles North. The left-hander went 12-2 on the season with a 1.96 ERA. In 78.2 innings of work Lambert struck out 105 hitters and allowed 56 hits.

Dan Vos, Chicago Christian, 2017
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound left-handed pitcher went 11-2 with a 0.52 ERA on the season. He struck out 147 batters in 81 innings and only allowed 37 hits.

Catcher

Drew Millas, Belleville East, 2016
Missouri State commit. Hit .485 and had a .541 on base percentage on the year with eight doubles, two triples and two home runs. Also added 20 RBI, walked eight times and struck out only four times.

First Base

Dan Sullivan, St. Viator, 2016
Hit .400 during the spring with 13 home runs. Also, hit 14 doubles, two triples with 35 RBI and 32 runs scored.

Middle Infield

Mike Massey, Brother Rice, 2016
Illinois commit. Hit .385 on the year with seven doubles, four triples and eight home runs. Also, knocked in 42, scored 37 runs and stole 16 bases.

Conner Lovely, Metea Valley, 2016
Batted .482 on the year with a .553 on base percentage. Hit 17 doubles, one triple, knocked in 26 and scored 33 runs. Also, was 25 of 27 in stolen bases.

Third Base

Matt McCormick, St. Laurence, 2019
McCormick is the first freshman to be named to a PBR All-State team. He started at third base and hit in the three hole for No. 7 St. Laurence. He was the team leader in batting average (.381), doubles (12), home runs (4) and RBI (39). Also, scored 25 runs and walked more than he struck out.

Outfield

Mateo Zunica, St. Rita, 2016
Kansas commit. Hit .450 with a .551 on base percentage. The left-handed hitter added eight doubles, a triple, 29 RBI and 24 runs scored. Also stole 24 bases on the season.

Alec Barger, Champaign Central, 2016
Northern Illinois commit. Batting average of .445 during the spring with seven doubles, 10 triples, five home runs, 30 RBI, 36 runs scored and stole 24 bases. The two-way prospect also went 3-1 on the mound with a 0.94 ERA. In 37 innings he struck out 39 and gave up 32 hits.

Andrew Dyke, Brother Rice, 2016
Illinois commit. Batting average of .408 on the year with 11 doubles, three triples, and six home runs. Also, scored 40 runs, knocked in 36 and stole 14 bases.

Utility

Tyler McAlister, Waterloo, 2016
Missouri State commit. Went 8-3 on the year with a 0.60 ERA. In a total of 58.1 innings pitches he twirled seven complete games with two shutouts. He struck out 62 batters, gave up 31 hits and walked 13. At the plate McAlister hit .432 with eight doubles, three triple, five home runs and 39 RBI.
