2024 Top Prospect Games: Preview

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

The first event of its kind, the 2024 Top Prospect Games, is coming to Lee Pfund Stadium, an all-turf field, (home of Wheaton College) on Saturday, August 22nd. The invite-only event currently has over 50 of the top 2024 prospects from around the state set to attend.

The 2024 Top Prospect Games will also provide participating prospects with access to unrivaled technologies during and following the event, facilitated by our recently announced partnerships with TrackMan Baseball, Blast Motion, Driveline Baseball, as well as Vizual Edge. You can read more about those partnerships and how they’ll enhance prospects’ own post-event analysis under the ‘Our Partners’ section of this showcase’s info tab.

Of the 50+ prospects currently signed up, there are a number of them who are familiar faces and should be ones to watch come Saturday. One of the toolsiest prospects we have seen to-date is C Randall Nauden (Marian Catholic). Nauden has an athletic 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with present strength and a strong right arm. At the Future Prospects Showcase this March Nauden ran a 7.26, was 80 mph from the crouch and registered an 88 mph exit velocity off a tee.

Randall Nauden (3.8.20)

Left-handed hitting infielder Cash Campbell (Montini Catholic) is another prospect that we have had the chance to see multiple times. Campbell has a physical build and high-ceiling bat. Campbell has loose, strong hands, present bat speed and the potential to hit for power in the future.

Cash Campbell (2.17.20)

Another left-handed hitter with plenty to dream on is OF Samuel Chapman (Woodstock). The 6-foot, 150-pound, fluid athlete has been a standout at the Junior Future Games as well as other events in the past.

Samuel Chapman (7.31.19)

Another former Junior Future Game standout is SS/RHP James Novakovic (New Trier). Novakovic is yet another left-handed hitter with a knack for the barrel and plays an above-average shortstop for his age.

James Novakovic (10.20.19)

There are a number of other prospects not mentioned above, worthy of recognition and ready to go for Saturday. The event should give us a glimpse into the bright future of Illinois high school baseball.
