No. 4 Mount Carmel 11, Kenwood 0 (five innings)
Mount Carmel (2-1) blasted Kenwood at Haggerty Field on Tuesday 11-0 behind a five-inning no-hitter from junior LHP Austin Dodson (1-0). Dodson fanned nine and walked one in his first start in 2013.Marko Boricich doubled, tripled and drove in three Caravan runs, to lead the Mount Carmel attack. Senior Jason Gasser had a double and two RBI and Joe Kennedy singled and hit his first round-tripper of 2013. University of Oregon-bound SS Jerry Houston scored three times, had two singles and drove home a run.

Herndon (VA) 2, No. 5 Normal West 0
Two Herndon (VA) pitchers combined for a six-hit shutout of the fifth-ranked Wildcats. Herndon picked up their two runs in the third inning off of Missouri State-bound LHP Alex Jefferson (0-2). Jefferson pitched five quality innings for Normal West (4-2) allowing two runs and four hits.Wildcat senior Josh Appel had the lone extra-base hit for West with a double.

No. 6 St. Laurence 4, Neenah (WI) 0
The Vikings rebounded from their heart-breaking loss to No. 8 Simeon by blanking their Badger State guests from Neenah. Senior Kyle Estand threw five shutout innings and scattering five hits for the win. Estand struck out eight. Purdue-recruit junior Mike Kornacker scored a pair and drove in one to lead the Viking attack. Juniors Nate Tholl, Roger Wilson and senior Zach Lewis all had an RBI for St. Laurence (2-1).

No. 9 St. Rita 7, Morgan Park 6 
St. Rita improved to 6-0 in thrilling fashion on Tuesday at St. Rita. Senior Pete Cozzi’s walk-off two-run single sent the frozen Mustang fans home happy. Mustang senior RHP Pete Martinez (1-0) slammed the door on Morgan Park with five stellar innings of relief, allowing one run and three hits.

No. 20 Nazareth 8, Immaculate Conception 0
The Roadrunners rolled in their season-opener on Tuesday crushing I-C 8-0. Six Roadrunner pitchers combined to one-hit the Knights. Senior Kyle Piotrowski (1-0) allowed the hit in his two innings of work and picked up the win. Piotrowski also had two hits and scored a run. Senior Pat Houlihan scored twice, doubled and walked.

West Aurora 1, No. 41 St. Charles East 0
In the season-opener for both schools, West Aurora’s junior 3B Jake Andalcio ripped a clutch two out RBI single scoring junior D.J. Varney, to lead the Blackhawks past the Fighting Saints.

A classic pitchers’ duel ensued between West Aurora’s Ottavio Dattolo and St. Charles East’s senior Nick Huskisson (0-1). In the bottom of the sixth, Varney walked and went to second on a groundout and scored the eventual game-winner on Andalcio’s clutch single.

Blackhawk senior Chris Hawks blew away the Saints in the seventh, fanning two to save the game for Dattolo (1-0). Dattolo went six innings allowing three hits. Huskisson (0-1) went the distance for St. Charles East, allowing the lone run and three hits.

No. 43 Metamora 7, Haverford (PA) 5 (6 innings)
The Redbirds rolled out to a 7-1 lead and then had to survive a Haverford four-run sixth to survive 7-5 on Tuesday. Alec Skender and Brady Fairfield each hammered their second round-trippers of the season. Fairfield added a single, two runs scored and two RBI. Bradley-bound SS Spencer Gaa chipped in with a clutch two-run single. Starting and winning Redbird pitcher Dylan Mullens (1-0) allowed one run and three hits in his five-inning stint to pick up the win.

Oak Forest 6, No. 48 Andrew 4
Oak Forest (1-0) won its season-opener defeating No. 48 Andrew 6-4 at the Ray Kroc Center in Chicago, on Tuesday. Junior 1B Brian Richard singled and went deep with a man on to lead the Bengal attack. Senior Kevin Johnson drove home a pair with a single and Matt Zubek added an RBI single for Oak Forest

Andrew (2-1) was led by senior Kevin Walsh, who had two hits, including a double with two RBI. T-Bolt Senior C Ryan Supple chipped in with two hits.

No. 49 New Trier 4, No. 19 Lockport 3
New Trier (1-2) rallied past Lockport 4-3 at Rent One Park in Marion. Trevian senior Adam Kost had the game winner when he singled in the bottom of the seventh making a winner of senior Andrew Kirby (1-0). Kirby fired 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to nail down the victory.

Senior Jack Cloud had a single and a double and plated two Trevian runs. The Trevian other run was scored on a passed ball, which tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth. Junior Grant Klenovich chipped in with a pair of hits for New Trier.

Heartland Community College-bound C Derek Bangert led Lockport (0-1) with a single and a double with two RBI.

Chicago Christian 8, Tinley Park 1
Chicago Christian (1-0) made the most of five hits as the Knights crushed 8-1 on Tuesday. Senior LF Wally Findysz had a pair of doubles and three RBI to lead the Knights. Junior CF Sean O’Meara chipped in with a pair of singles and scored three runs. Sophomore Martin Johnson (1-0) picked up the win on the mound. Johnson allowed a run and four hits in his three innings of work. Senior Corey Bulthuis and junior Chris Lyle each had a scoreless inning in relief of Johnson.

Shenango (PA) 5, Grayslake Central 1 
In Orlando, Florida, Shenango (PA) defeated the Rams of Grayslake Central 5-1 on Tuesday. The Rams scored in the third to grab an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single by senior C Kyle Balling. Shenango answered with a four-spot in the bottom of the third and coasted to victory. Balling added another single for a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate. Senior Ryan Fontana chipped in with two hits.

Walther Lutheran 12, Christian Liberty Academy 3
The Broncos won their season-opener on Tuesday, smashing Christian Liberty of Arlington Heights 12-3. Senior Steve Lams (1-0) picked the win with four shutout innings for Walther Lutheran (1-0). Senior Marc Kocjancich led the Bronco attack with three hits, including two doubles and had four RBI. 

Reavis 13, Hubbard 0 (5 innings)
The Rams improved to 2-0 with a 13-0, five-inning romp past Hubbard in Burbank. The Rams scored six times in the bottom of the first to put this one away early. Senior Richie Velez led the Ram attack with two doubles and two RBI. Senior Mike Lally had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with two runs scored. Senior Dan Meskill and junior Joe O’Hare each had a pair of hits and a ribbie. Junior Bela Abuzir (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Rams.

St. Ignatius 11, Payton 4
The Wolfpack hit Payton with a 10-run sixth inning, to roll to a season-opening victory at UIC Tuesday night. Senior Jared Deveau and freshman Charlie Norton led the St. Ignatius attack with two hits and two RBI each. Junior Rocco Dileo (1-0) picked up the win in relief. Dileo chipped in with a pair of RBI.
