2nd Annual Steven M. Bajenski - Third Place
No. 5 St. Rita 5, No. 2 St. Laurence 2
St. Rita (28-7) rolled behind junior starting and winning pitcher Patrick Henry (4-1) and took third-place in the prestigious tournament. Seniors Troy Payton and Pete Cozzi singled home runs for the Mustangs while sophomore 3B Ty Halas had a double that plated another Mustang run.
2ND Annual Bajenski Memorial Tournament – Fifth Place
Brother Rice 11, New Trier 9
Brother Rice (21-14) outslugged New Trier to take home the fifth-place trophy in the Bajenski tournament. Crusader junior Kevin Biondic had three hits, including a double and drove home three runs while senior Wendall Ferguson added two hits including a double and plated a pair of Crusader
runs. Junior CF Erich Lieser chipped in with three hits, including a double and had two RBI.
2ND Annual Steven M. Bajenski 9TH Place
No. 1 Lincoln-Way North 16, No. 20 Lemont 5
Lincoln-Way North (31-2-1) smashed Lemont to win ninth-place in the Bajenski Tourney. Kevin Smith led the Phoenix attack with a single, double and five RBI. Ryan Pellack plated three runs while Reed Hero, Josh Reed and Drew Korosic all had two hits and two RBI. SIU-Edwardsville-bound Mike Miller threw a five-inning complete game to improve to 7-0 on the mound.
No. 19 Naperville Central 8, York 0
Naperville Central (23-7) used four pitchers to combine to throw a five-hit shutout at the Dukes. Senior RHP Jimmy Nashert fired the first three hitless innings to pick up the win. Sophomore Bobby McMillen continued his hot-hitting with a bomb a single and drove home two Redhawk runs.
Class 2A Regional Finals
AUBURN
Pleasant Plains 2, Auburn 0
Pleasant Plains (24-9) blanked the Cardinals Sangamo Conference rivals, behind a six-hit shutout from senior LHP Ben Sprague. Anthony Lucchesi gave Sprague the only run he would when he hammered a solo-shot for the Cardinal. Sprague improves to 6-2 on the mound and has a microscopic 0.85 ERA. The Cardinals will face their Sangamo Conference rivals and 2013 champion the Williamsville Bullets (22-5) at home in the Class 2A Pleasant Plains Sectional at 7.

DuQuoin (21-7)
HARRISBURG
No. 6 Harrisburg 5, Vienna 0
Harrisburg (30-4) rolled past Vienna behind University of Illinois-bound RHP Ryne Roper (11-0). Roper fired a four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the Bulldogs to the Regional Championship.
ROBINSON
No. 9 Teutopolis 8, Marshall 0
Teutopolis (26-3) wrapped-up the Robinson Regional Championship and moved one step closer to the Shoes highly-anticipated showdown with No. 6 Harrisburg (30-4). The Top 10 battle could take place a week from today in the Teutopolis Sectional Championship Game on Saturday. If the classic matchup were to come to fruition, the PBR’s Drake Skleba will be in Teutopolis on the 25th. In this game, SIU-bound RHP Kyle Pruemer improved to 9-1 with a one-hit shutout on Saturday. Pruemer struck out nine. Red-hot Wooden Shoe junior Bobby Wenthe continued his torrid hitting with a single and three RBI. Alex Goldstein added two doubles among his three hits and plated a run while Reid Hardiek went deep for T-Town. Pruemer chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI.
WESTMINSTER CHRISTIAN
Aurora Central Catholic 4, St. Edward 2
Aurora Central Catholic (27-7) rolled to the Westminster Christian Regional Championship behind Heartland Community College-bound RHP Matt Miller (6-0). Miller fired a four-hitter at the Green Wave with 10 strikeouts. Red-hot Hunter Fiorito drove home the eventual game-winner with a clutch RBI single in the fourth. Matt Miller did the rest as head coach Sean Biterman’s Chargers had their first regional championship since 2002. Not bad for a team that was 14-19 last season.
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
Lisle 7, Timothy Christian 0
Lisle (18-10-1) rolled past the Trojans behind a three-hit shutout from senior LHP Ryan Van Volkenburg to win Class 2A I-C Regional Championship. Van Volkenburg fanned seven and did not walk a batter. Jake Oard and Bobby Welch each had two hits and an RBI while Lion leadoffman Cliff Krause singled and drove home pair of Loin runs.
CHICAGO CHRISTIAN
Chicago Christian 12, Agriculture Science 1
Chicago Christian (30-6) routed Ag Science in five innings on Saturday to take win the Knights’-own Class 2A regional crown.
Nonconference
No.1 0 Lockport 8. Montini 0
Lockport’s (27-7) Eric Duzan, Mike Formella and Connor Ryan combined for a two-hit shutout against Montini. Heartland Community-bound C Derek Bangert continued to tear the cover off the ball with his ninth round-tripper of the year two doubles and five RBI.
No. 11 Downers Grove South 3, No. 19 Sandburg 1
Downers Grove South (28-6-1) slid past the Eagles behind a three-hitter from University of Minnesota-bound RHP Brian Glowicki (6-2). Glowicki struck out nine Eagle batsmen. Senior 3B Kevin Raher had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate and drove home two big Mustang runs. Sandburg falls to 22-8.
