By Drew Locascio

The fall season is all but wrapped up, as the fall events in Illinois have come to an end and the WWBA in Jupiter, FL has finished up. In turn, much has happened since the last rankings update and seniors from around the state have made strong impressions.

There were a few shakeups at the top of the rankings but right-handed pitcher Austin Marozas (Plainfield South) stays at No. 1. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound, imposing figure, has continued to impress on the mound all summer and fall. The Kentucky recruit pitches comfortably in 88-91 mph range and gets heavy run and sink on his fastball.

Both Brendan Murphy (Mundelein) and Bobby Miller (McHenry) climbed a few spots since the last update and now sit at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.  Murphy, an Arizona State commit, is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound southpaw who has a three-pitch mix, consistently runs his fastball into the upper 80’s-to-low 90’s and has developed a wipeout slider. Miller, a Louisville commit, is a 6-foot-5, right-hander with a power arm, recently touching 93 mph.

One of the biggest risers who now sits in the Top 10 is third baseman Donivan Williams (Richards), an Illinois State commit. Williams is a top-level defender at the hot corner with excellent instincts and plenty of arm strength across the diamond.

Williams is the only position player in the top 10 as this year’s senior class is loaded with high-end arms. Two right-handed pitchers new to the top 10 are Mark DiLuia (Marian Catholic) and Marius Balandis (St. Laurence). DiLuia, a Maryland recruit, has a smooth delivery, easy arm and possesses a wipeout slider. Balandis, originally from Lithuania, now attending St. Laurence, has a four-pitch repertoire and has been up to 92 mph.
