Illinois Recruiting Notebook

Several more seniors have named their schools recently. A look at who’s going where:

+ One of the top unsigned seniors is now off the board after OF/RHP Jeff Hahs (O’Fallon HS) verbally committed to John A. Logan JC. The athletically built 6-foot-4, 185-pound Hahs is currently ranked No. 52 in Illinois’ 2014 class and No. 264 overall. Hahs is one of the top two-way prospects in the state, but is more known for his prowess as a position player. With that said, the right-hander pitches in the upper 80s.

+ Francisco Mari, a RHP from Elgin HS, has committed to Elmhurst College. The long and loose 6-foot-3 Mari showed well at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase in October. Mari is currently ranked No. 193 in Illinois’ 2014 class.

+ Tyler Lewan, an INF/RHP from Dundee-Crown HS, has committed to Dubuque. The 6-foot-2 Lewan, who’s currently ranked No. 208 in Illinois’ 2014 class, recently showed well at the Unsigned Showcase in October.

+ Cesar Diaz, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound RHP from Kennedy HS, has committed to Black Hawk College. Diaz has shown a mid-80s fastball that has climbed as high as 87.

+ Rich Hernandez, a 1B/LHP from McHenry HS, has committed to North Park University.
