Illinois Recruiting Notebook

Lots of recruiting news around Illinois recently. A recap of who’s going where:

+ Jonathan Figueroa, a RHP from Clemente HS, has committed to North Carolina Central. The 6-foot Figueroa is currently ranked No. 52 in Illinois’ 2014 class and 252 overall. Figueroa showed exceptionally well at the Tournament of Stars in North Carolina over the summer playing on the RBI team. Figueroa sat 86-88 mph with his fastball to go along with a sharp breaking ball.

+ Brian Richard, a left-handed hitting OF/1B from Oak Forest HS, has committed to Prairie State College. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Richards, who’s ranked No. 76 in Illinois 2014 class, has been an impact performer for Oak Forest since his freshman year.

+ Brock Fulkerson, a 6-foot-6, 150-pound RHP from Mount Vernon HS, has committed to Rend Lake College. Fulkerson, who’s ranked No. 159 in Illinois’ 2014 class, showed extremely well at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase two weeks ago.

+ Tanner Russell, a 6-foot, 170-pound INF from Urbana HS, has committed to Parkland College. Russell, who’s ranked No. 184 in Illinois’ 2014 class, ran a 7.07 60 and was clocked at 78 mph from shortstop at the Preseason All-State Showcase last February.

+ Adam Harvey, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound C from Antioch HS, has committed to Cornerstone University in Michigan. Harvey, who’s ranked No. 137 in Illinois’ 2014 class, was a member of Team Illinois at the Midwest Future Games two years ago.

+ Eric Tucker, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound OF from Lemont HS, has committed to Pikesville University in Kentucky.

+ Illinois State landed the Hendren brothers – INF Jared and LHP Jacob – who both starred at Heartland CC last year. The Hendrens led University HS to the Class 2A state championship two years ago as seniors in high school.
