Illinois Recruiting Notebook

Several more prospects have named their schools recently. A recap of who’s going where:

+ Jimmy Govern, a 2015 SS from Libertyville HS, has committed to Eastern Illinois. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Govern has been a two-year impact player, and helped lead the Wildcats to the Class 4A state championship game as a sophomore last spring. Govern is currently ranked No. 110 in Illinois’ 2015 class.

+ Several more senior prospects from Nazareth HS have given their commitments recently. Michael Greene, a 6-foot-4 RHP, has committed to Coe College. Greene is currently ranked No. 175 in Illinois’ 2014 class. … OF Andrew Barreto and INF Matthew Baldwin have both committed to St. Ambrose University. … 3B/C Brandon Gibson has committed to Benedictine University. … RHP Joey Nelson has committed to Carthage College. … Last week, it was announced that RHP Jake Bartels had committed to Western Michigan.

+ Four seniors from Grayslake Central HS have recently named their schools. INF/P Freddie Landers has committed to College of Lake County. The versatile Landers is currently ranked No. 205 in Illinois’ 2014 class.  … OF Matt Loeffl has committed to Augustana. … OF Justin Dooley has committed to Rose-Hulman. … RHP Russ Lundius has committed to UW-Patteville. All four players helped the Rams to a third-place finish in Class 3A last season.

+ Eric Dubek, a RHP from Providence Catholic HS, has committed to Concordia (WI).

+ Dominic Cuevas, a senior INF from Warren HS, has committed to College of Lake County.

+ Four senior prospects from Stagg HS have recently named their schools. Nick Nowak and Jake Wimmer will both attend Saint Xavier University; Peter Angelos has committed to North Central College, while CJ Casey has picked Carthage College.
