Impact Freshmen

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

An update is coming to the 2021 Overall Rankings so The Hotlist is taking a look at some freshmen that have made an impact this spring.

Gavin Bruni, LHP/OF, Alliance HS, OH
Bruni is Ohio’s top freshman and continues to get better. His arm is long and loose with advanced strength for his age. His fastball has been sitting in the high 80s this spring and the breaking ball is sharp and in the low 70s. The 6-foot-3 southpaw could also be a Division I hitter. On the season, Bruni is hitting .509 and he has 39 strikeouts in 20 innings.

Tyler Collins, OF, McKinney Boyd HS, TX
Starting in center field and leading off for McKinney Boyd, Collins is a quick-twitch athlete with a lean, muscular frame at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds. He has a balanced set-up at the plate with quick hands through the zone. He gets to full speed quickly with long strides. He has a run a 6.92-second 60.
