On Sunday, Sept. 20, the PBR Illinois team hosted its first-ever Kane County Open event at Northwestern Medicine Field, home of the Kane County Cougars. Over 30 prospects representing the 2021 to 2024 high school classes were in attendance, and most of them made their PBR debuts.

Our post-event coverage starts today with an analysis of the top statistical performers of the day.

TOP 60-YARD DASH

Rank Name State School Class Pos 60-yard
1 Jaden Carr IL Huntley 2021 OF 6.94
2 Larry Han IL Stevenson 2023 RHP 7.03
3 Ethan Mayer IL Geneva 2021 2B 7.20
^ Carter White IL Shelby County KY 2023 LHP 7.20
4 Eric Newberry IL Batavia 2022 OF 7.29
5 Bennett Summers IL Bloomington Central Catholic 2024 SS 7.33

Senior uncommitted OF Jaden Carr (Huntley, 2021) has typically recorded above-average run times in our looks and he did so again today, running the quickest 60-yard time of the day. Behind Carr by a few ticks was OF Larry Han (Stevenson, 2023), who’s an intriguing 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed hitter with athleticism to pair and above-average arm strength for his age.

MAX EXIT VELOCITY

Rank Name State School Class Pos Exit Velo
1 Jacob Buysse IL Mundelein 2022 1B 89

^ Dylan Reilly IL Dundee Crown 2021 1B 86
4 Noah Zaccanti IL Geneva Community 2021 C 83

1B/3B Jacob Buysse (Mundelein, 2022) is a strong, thick 6-foot-2, 210-pound corner infielder with present raw strength in his frame, as evidenced by his event-leading 89 mph exit velocity off the tee. OF Tommy Finley (Downers Grove North, 2023) is a wiry 6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitter that finished two ticks below Buysse for the exit velocity lead. He flashed some of that innate raw pop in BP to the pull-side, sending one to the left-field fence that traveled 324 feet and also recorded a max exit speed of 93.9 mph, per TrackMan.

Rank Name State School Class Pos Max FB
1 Holter Gette IL Batavia 2021 RHP 86 mph

He averaged 16 inches of induced vertical break (IVB), maxing out at 20.4 inches, making his fastball capable of earning swings-and-misses up in the zone. RHP Ethan Lyon (Rockford, 2023) showed above-average arm strength for his age, touching 83 mph and sitting in the 81-82 mph range, averaging roughly 2,100 rpm as well.

Two uncommitted seniors that made their PBR debuts at this event finished as the top two statistical performers for this category: 2B/SS Ethan Mayer (Geneva, 2021) and 1B/LHP Dylan Reilly (Dundee Crown, 2021). A potential noteworthy name to follow that finished just short of the lead is SS/RHP Bennett Summers (Central Catholic, 2024), who was one of the youngest players in attendance and steadily made a name for himself.
