No. 7 Simeon HS (2-0) destroyed Payton HS by a score of 19-0 in a game that was called after 5 innings.  Sophomore Darius Day (1-0) pitched 5 inning of no-hit ball with 9 strikeouts.  Junior Robert Fletcher was 4-4 with a triple and 4 RBIs, Darien Clifton went 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Junior Corey Ray, Louisville commit, had a 2-3 day that included a 2 run bomb and ended the game with 4 RBIs. Junior Marshawn Taylor who committed to Eastern Illinois last week was 2-3 with a  double, a triple, and 3 RBIs, and Freshman Terrance Robertson went 2-2 with a homer and finished with 3 RBIs.

No. 8 Marian Catholic (1-0) routed Rich South 14-4 in five innings. Arizona State-bound LHP Brett Lilek (1-0) struck out eight of the nine outs he recorded in a spotless debut. Spartan junior Erik Callaghan homered and doubled and plated three runs to lead the Spartan assault. Lilek helped himself with a pair of RBI at the plate.

 No. 26 Mundelein (1-0) smoked Hoffman Estates 14-1 in five innings. Iowa-bound LHP Ryan Borucki (1-0) struck out five in his two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Mustang senior Chris Maranto had two hits, including a two-run bomb for the Mustangs.

 No. 45 Troy-Triad (1-0) pounded out 17 hits and extinguished the Flaming Hearts of Effingham 12-5.

 Highland Park (1-0) slipped past Lane Tech 7-4. Future Fighting Illini Jason Goldstein had a pair of hits, including a homer and a pair of RBI, to lead the Giant attack. Giant senior OF David Oversen chipped in with two hits, including a double and an RBI. 

 Mt. Vernon (2-0) destroyed Pinckneyville 11-1 in five innings. The Rams pounded out a dozen hits, led by senior Zach Jones, who doubled, tripled and plated a pair of Ram runs. Junior Matt Williams doubled and drove home two. Ram juniors Trevor Flota and Landon Thomas each had two hits and an RBI. The beneficiary of the all-out Ram assault was 6-foot-4 sophomore Brock Fulkerson (1-0), who allowed two hits and one run. Fulkerson fanned seven Panther batsmen. Mt. Vernon will look to go 3-0 as they invade Bethalto, to take on Civic Memorial, on Thursday.

Whitney Young (1-0) blasted Chicago Washington 16-2 in five innings. Dolphin freshman Jonathan Eng went deep with a man on for Young.

Springfield (1-1) evened up its record with a 9-7 win over Beardstown on Wednesday. Senator junior Ryan Dorr, had two hits and two RBI to lead the Senator attack. Sophomore Zach Barnhart and senior Joe Bridges each chipped in with a pair of hits. Junior Luke Lavin (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Senators.

Manteno (1-0) exploded for eight runs in the seventh to stun hosts Rich Central 13-7. Trailing 7-5 as the game entered the top of the seventh, Panther Billy Liss, got the late-inning party started with an RBI triple to bring the Panthers within 7-6. J.J. Witherow tied the game at 7 with an RBI single scoring Liss. DH Joey DiLeo and winning pitcher Mark Reardanz, followed with booming RBI doubles and the rout was on. Reardanz (1-0) fired three hitless innings to pick up the win. Reardanz fanned two Olympian hitters.

Naperville North (1-0) rolled past Plainfield South 9-4 behind Air Force-recruit Mariano Long (1-0), who fired four scoreless innings, to lead the Huskies to their season-opening victory.
