PBR IL - Black Hawk JC Scout Day: Statistical Analysis

On Friday, October 8, the PBR Illinois staff traveled to Moline, Illinois, to host the Black Hawk College Scout Day on the school’s campus. Roughly 30 prospects showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff throughout the day’s workout portion.
Today, our scouting staff will begin to roll out all our prototypical post-event content pieces, starting with this statistical analysis. Below we’ll highlight players that put up numbers from a traditional standpoint, such as leaders in the 60-yard dash, max throwing velocities, and other data gathered from the day.
We’ll also roll out more analysis as the week rolls on, like a takeaways piece from the day and deeper data dives with the statistics collected from our technological partners at TrackMan and Blast Motion.
For now, take a look at which players put out noteworthy statistical outputs.
STAT STORY
+ OF Brandon Roth paced the Black Hawk prospects in multiple different statistical categories throughout the workout. Standing at 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, Roth ran the day’s fastest 60-yard dash, clocking a 6.75 time on our lasers. He showed physicality and plenty of bat strength in BP, recording a max exit velocity of 98.77 mph with a 72.7 percent hard hit rate. From the outfield, Roth showed off his arm strength with a 90 mph max throw to the plate.
+ UTL Chance Resetich showed well in multiple different areas during his workout. A 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete, Resetich ran the day’s third-fastest 60-yard dash time, clocking a 6.84 on our lasers. He peaked at 88 mph from the outfield, the third-hardest throw of the day, and his hardest hit ball left the bat at 98 mph in BP, per TrackMan.
+ Always known for his quick-twitch tendencies in high school, OF/LHP Lucas Spence impressed our scouts with his workout performance. Spence kicked his workout off with a 6.83 in the 60-yard dash and used that explosive twitch to barrel his hardest hit ball up at 97.28 mph to go along with an 80-percent hard hit rate in BP. Spence led all outfielders in throwing velocity with a 94 mph strike to home and was also up to 86 mph on the mound, featuring two breaking balls that spun at a 2,600+ RPM average.
+ MIF Tucker Cole led all infielders in throwing velocity, reaching an 85 mph high across the infield. Cole is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete that’s hardest hit ball came off his bat at 91 mph and traveled 324 feet, per TrackMan.
+ RHP Kale Ven Huizen had the hardest fastball during the bullpen portion of the scout day. A 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed pitcher from Illinois, Van Huizen ran his heater up to 90 mph during his ‘pen, sitting in the 88-90 mph range throughout.
