The Gurnee Preseason ID showcase took place on Sunday, February 21st at the Bat Speed Academy in Gurnee, IL. The event featured over 110 prospects mostly from the northern part of Illinois and a handful from Wisconsin.
Last week we began the analysis from the event with the catchers. Today we take a look at the pitchers who participated at the event.
TOP PITCHERS
1. Quinn Priester, RHP, Cary-Grove HS, 2019
6-foot-3, 172-pound, athletic, extremely projectable right-handed pitcher. One of the top right-handed pitchers in the 2019 class. Priester features a power arm with polish well beyond his years; fastball topped at 87 mph, throws three-pitches for strikes with his changeup flashing plus action. Smooth, slow-paced, repeatable delivery; stays in-line, square landing, athletic finish and pretty easy effort. Clean, quick, short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Fastball, thrown for strikes, straight action and sat 85-86 mph, touching 87. Changeup was his best secondary offering; good arm speed, feel, sinking action, 75-78 mph. Slider, good feel, sweeping action, working mostly 10/4, tight spin and clocked at 72-74 mph.
2. Sonny Mentone, LHP, Antioch HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 175-pound, athletically built, left-handed pitcher. Ranked No. 63 in Illinois. On the mound, quick, loose arm action out of a high ¾ window. Smooth rhythm, regular effort and some deception; slight cross-fire delivery. Fastball, thrown for strikes, heavy action with run and sink, clocked at 82-84 mph, touching 85. Curveball is a legitimate secondary pitch with plus potential; flashed sharp spin and good depth, sat 66-67 mph. Changeup, maintained arm speed, works mostly straight, slight fade at times and clocked at 70-74 mph.
3. Korey Soetaert, RHP, Wauconda HS, 2017
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound flashes a legitimate four-pitch mix with deception in his delivery. Quick, loose, live arm; short arm swing, closed, tucked front shoulder hides the ball and some effort in his delivery. Fastball heavy, hard action when down in the zone, arm-side-run and sat 83-85 mph. Flashed a curveball and slider; both pitches thrown with fastball arm speed, for strikes, displayed sharpness. Curveball worked 10/4 and clocked at 74-75 mph. Slider also worked 10/4 and ranged between 74-77 mph. Changeup, feel, firm, flashed sink and fade at times; sat 77-79 mph.
4. Ryan Larsen, RHP, Vernon Hills HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 170-pound, projectable frame, right-handed pitcher. On the mound, quick arm action, short on the backside, over-the-top slot and regular effort. Choppy, deceptive delivery; lands slightly across his body, athletic finish. Fastball slight arm-side-run, gets extension out front and works the bottom of the zone, clocked at 83-85 mph. Curveball, slurvy sharp action, good depth, works 11/5, 65-68 mph. Changeup, near fastball arm action, slight fade and ranged between 76-80 mph.
5. Colin Fields, RHP/INF, Libertyville HS, 2018
6-foot, 170-pound, projectable, athletic frame, two-way prospect. Projects out well on the mound. Smooth, repeatable delivery and a quick, loose arm action. Four pitch repertoire with a slider that has plus potential. Fastball, slight arm-side-run, thrown for strikes and clocked at 80-82 mph, touching 83. Slider was the best of the two breaking balls, flashing sharp, tight spin and 10/4 shape, 66-67 mph. Curveball was not far behind however, 11/5 shape, with depth, sat 61-63 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed, thrown for strikes, mostly straight and ranged between 69-71 mph. Projectable right-handed pitcher in the 2018 class. Offensively, balanced setup, minimal load and short stride. Path has some length, gets extension at times and good balance through contact; 80 mph exit velocity. Defensively, steady hands, clean exchange and arm works on the infield; 76 mph across the diamond. Also, 4.79 runner down the line.
6. Brett Taucher, RHP, Elk Grove HS, 2017
6-foot-4, 210-pound, physical, durable frame, right-handed pitcher. On the mound, up-tempo windup, regular effort in his delivery, some rhythm and throws strikes. Long arm action, high ¾ slot; stays on line, slightly closed at foot strike and athletic finish. Fastball flashed slight arm-side-run and clocked at 82-83 mph, touching 84. Curveball has feel, gets around it at times, 12/6, 11/5 action; 66-69 mph. Changeup, feel, firm, works straight and clocked at 77-78 mph.
7. Colton Hale, RHP/INF, St. Joseph-Ogden HS, 2017
6-foot, 170-pound athletically built two-way prospect. Projectable right-handed pitcher. On the mound, smooth rhythm, flashes a quick short arm with regular effort in his delivery; stays on-line, lands square and hides the ball. Fastball, thrown for strikes, some arm-side-run and clocked at 80-82 mph, touching 83. Curveball, feel, worked 11/5, tight spin and ranged between 68-71 mph. Changeup, tendency to slow his arm, sink and fade action, 68-72 mph. Offensively, right-handed hitter with a simple approach; short and level bat path through the zone. Balanced setup, smooth load and good balance. 80 mph exit velocity. Defensively, steady hands on the infield. Short arm action, high ¾ slot and clocked at 77 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 4.62 home-to-first.
8. Bradley Larsen, RHP, Vernon Hills HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 190-pound, solid, well-proportioned, right-handed pitcher. On the mound, short, loose arm action from an over-the-top slot; slightly across body, drop and drive delivery. Fastball, strikes, works straight, flattens up in the zone, and clocked at 82-83 mph. Curveball, works between 12/6, 11/5 and sat 69-71 mph. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, straight action, 77-79 mph.
9. Sawyer Phillips, RHP, Antioch HS, 2019
5-foot-9, 150-pound, wiry, young look, right-handed pitcher. On the mound, slight cross-fire delivery, some rhythm and regular effort; feel for three pitches. Loose, long arm on the backside, from a ¾ to high ¾ slot. Fastball works mainly straight, underneath at times and clocked 75-78 mph, touching 79. Changeup, good feel, near fastball arm speed, strikes, some cut and clocked at 71-73 mph. Slider flashed short break, 10/4 action and sat 70-72 mph.
10. Brandon Khan, RHP/INF, Lakes HS, 2017
6-foot-1, 170-pound two-way prospect. Offensively, flashed some bat speed and a gap-to-gap approach. Fluid rhythm, lift in swing and path has length; 79 mph exit velocity. Defensively, steady hands and athletic fielding position on the infield; longer exchange due to a long arm action from an over-the-top slot. Throws clocked at 81 mph, flashing carry across the diamond. 4.46 runner down the line. On the mound, quick arm action out of an over-the-top window. Some rhythm, stays on-line, lands square and finishes athletically. Fastball, some arm-side-run and clocked at 80-82, touching 83. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 69-72 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed, gets underneath at times and ranged between 75-78 mph.

Cole Aughenbaugh, OF/RHP, Oswego HS, 2017
6-foot, 180-pound athletically built two-way prospect. Ran a 4.30 home-to-first. Offensively, from the right-side of the plate, flashed a line-drive approach and a level bat path through the hitting zone. Balanced setup, hands load pre-pitch, normal stride and good balance. Defensively, clean exchange and plays through the baseball in the outfield. Long over-the-top arm action, accurate throws clocked at 82 mph. On the mound the right-hander features a slow tempo, repeatable, drop and drive delivery and throws from a high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight and clocked at 75-77 mph, touching 79. Curveball works 10/4 and sat 63-65 mph. Changeup ranged between 68-72 mph.
Andrew Austin, RHP/INF, Warren HS, 2019
6-foot, 207-pound, extra-large frame, two-way prospect. Offensively, hits from the right side. Starts from a tall, balanced setup, slight pre-pitch load and an inside/out bat path; 78 mph exit velocity. Defensively, short arm action from a ¾ slot on the infield; clocked at 59 mph across the diamond. 5.83 runner down the line. On the mound, coiled windup, short arm action out of a ¾ window and regular effort in his delivery. Fastball worked straight and clocked at 62-64 mph, touching 66. Curveball, 12/6 shape, ranged between 56-59 mph. Changeup sat 61-62 mph.
Brandon Banker, OF/RHP, Carmel Catholic HS, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound two-way prospect. Ran an above-average home-to-first for his age, 4.25. Offensively, balanced slightly crouched setup position, average stride and some involvement from his lower half. Long bat path through the hitting zone; 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively, loose arm from a ¾ slot, flashing carry from the outfield; 77 mph. On the mound, the right-hander repeats his delivery and lands slightly open. Long arm action out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball, strikes, slight arm-side-run and clocked at 72-74 mph. Curveball, tendency to guide it, 55-58 mph. Changeup sat 63-64 mph. Also, flashed a cutter that he got around at times, ranged between 60-63 mph.
Michael Bedard, RHP/INF, Barrington HS, 2019
6-foot-1, 170-pound, athletically built, two-way prospect. Right-handed hitter, simple swing and stays on top of the baseball; line-drive approach, 72 mph exit velocity from a tee. Starts from a crouched position, slight pre-pitch load and good balance through contact. Defensively, showed decent feet around the bag at first base. Short, over-the-top arm action and throws clocked at 71 mph across the diamond. On the mound, regular effort, drop and drive delivery. Fastball works straight and clocked at 73-74 mph. Curveball, 10/4 shape and ranged between 67-69 mph. Changeup, 70-72 mph.
Jacob Biggs, INF, Grant HS, 2018
5-foot-8, 131-pound infielder, think wiry frame. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, flat path with length, 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played short from a high ¾ slot, some accuracy, 75 mph across the diamond. On the mound arm action played more from an over the top slot with some effort. Fastball was straight, showed some control, 74-76 mph, touched 78 mph. Curveball has 12/6 action, gradual bend, 60-64 mph. Changeup showed feel, 71-72 mph, slight sinking action.
Peyton Bizarri, LHP, Rockridge HS, 2016
6-foot, 180-pound athletically built left-handed pitcher. On the mound, long arm action, from an over-the-top slot and some effort in delivery; high front side and falls off towards third base on his finish. Fastball worked mainly straight, up in the zone and clocked at 72-74 mph. Curveball, thrown near fastball arm speed, worked 12/6 and sat 61-62 mph. Changeup thrown with good arm speed, straight action and ranged between 63-66 mph.
Joe Bogdan, LHP, Hinsdale Central HS, 2018
6-foot-3, 170-pound long-limbed left-handed pitcher. On the mound, stays in-line, square landing, regular effort and some rhythm in his delivery. Long arm action out of a high ¾ slot. Curveball was best pitch on this day; feel, strikes, worked between 12/6, 1/7, and sat 60-61 mph. Fastball flashes slight cut and clocked at 66-67 mph. Changeup ranged between 57-62 mph.
Jack Christensen, RHP/1B, Lake Community, 2017
Extra-large frame, 6-foot-5, 205-pound right-handed two-way player. Hits from a balanced setup, short quick stride. Path has some lift, power potential, flashed hard contact with some extension. 87 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed playable actions around first base, big target, some feel around the bag. Arm action is short and over the top, slight carry. 77 mph across the diamond. On the mound arm action is short, high ¾ slot, regular effort. Fastball has slight arm side run, showed feel for the zone, sat 76-78 mph. Breaking ball had gradual slurve type action, 64-67 mph. Changeup flashed sink, 67-69 mph.
Matthew Croisant, OF/RHP, Lake Forest HS, 2018
6-foot-4, 180-pound, lanky, projectable frame, two-way prospect. Offensively, hits from the right side of the plate. Balanced setup, deep leg-lift timing trigger and good balance. Bat stays level through the hitting zone; 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, arm plays well in the outfield; loose, whippy, easy arm action, short arm circle from a ¾ slot and clocked at 86 mph. On the mound, some rhythm and effort in his delivery. Short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Fastball flashed slight run, clocked at 78-81 mph. Curveball works 11/5 shape and ranged between 69-72 mph. Changeup, missed arm side, sat 73-74 mph.
Pasquale DeFilippis, RHP/INF, Warren HS, 2018
5-foot-10, 170-pound two-way prospect. Offensively, from the right side, his bat stayed flat through the zone at times. Open setup, hands load, normal stride and average balance; 83 mph exit velocity. Defensively, quick exchange on the infield. Clocked at 71 mph across the diamond from a high ¾ slot. 4.95 runner down the line. On the mound, long arm action and worked from the stretch only. Fastball clocked at 74-76 mph. Throws a knuckle curveball that ranged between 62-65 mph. Changeup showed some feel, 67-69 mph.
Aidan Dolan, 1B/RHP, Buffalo Grove, 2017
6-foot-1, 220-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, average balance. Showed bat strength, 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played long from a high ¾ slot, 70 mph across the diamond. Ran a 4.90 home to first. On the mound arm works from an over the top slot, short arm action, with effort. Fastball sat 69-71 mph, little action, some downhill. Cutter worked at 64-65. Changeup is 63-64 mph, slight downhill sink.
Kyle Duenas, OF/LHP, Warren HS, 2019
5-foot-7, 135-pound two-way prospect. On the mound, the left-handed pitcher operates with some rhythm and regular effort in his delivery; stays on-line, square landing and athletic finish. Long arm action from a ¾ slot. Fastball, heavy action, flashing run and sink, clocked at 73-75 mph, touching 76. Slider is ahead of his curveball. Slider has sharper action, works 1/7 and ranged between 66-69 mph. Curveball, 12/6 action, 65-68 mph. Changeup, maintains fastball arm speed, sink at times, 63-67 mph. Defensively, in the outfield, athletic crow hop and his arm plays up; clocked at 79 mph working long and loose. Fluid footwork and clean exchange. Offensively, hits right-handed, pre-pitch hand movement and long bat path through the hitting zone; 76 mph exit velocity. Also, ran a 5.08 home-to-first.
Aidan Earl, RHP, Grant HS, 2017
5-foot-9, 190-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound, showed the ability to repeat his delivery, some rhythm and level shoulders. Short, loose arm action, out of an over-the-top slot. Fastball works straight, clocked at 79-80 mph, touching 81. Showed some feel for his curveball, 11/5 action, flashed a few with good spin and depth, sat 69-70 mph. Changeup, flashed sink at times, 72-74 mph.
Noah Fischer, LHP, Peoria Notre Dame HS, 2017
5-foot-9, 150-pound left-handed pitcher. Long arm action, out of a high ¾ window with regular effort on the mound. Fastball thrown for strikes, works straight and clocked at 76-77 mph, touching 78. Curveball, tendency to slow his arm speed, works 12/6, 11/5 at times, clocked at 62-64 mph. Changeup, had feel, flashed sink and ranged between 67-69 mph.
Kyle Fleming, INF/RHP, Lake Zurich HS, 2017
6-foot-1, 185-pound, solid frame, two-way prospect. Offensively, right-handed hitter, long, uphill path with strength through contact; 88 mph exit velocity. Slight crouched setup and hands drop during load. Defensively, reliable hands on the infield; throws from a high ¾ slot and clocked at 76 mph across the diamond. 4.57 runner down the line. On the mound, long arm action out of the same high ¾ slot as the infield. Fastball works straight and clocked at 74-75 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape and depth, sat 59-61 mph. Changeup mostly straight and clocked at 69-72 mph.
Nick Gavin, LHP, Carmel Catholic HS, 2018
5-foot-8, 165-pound left-handed pitcher. On the mound, quick, short arm action from a ¾ slot and regular effort in his delivery. High front side, stays on-line and square landing. Fastball, works straight, clocked at 68-71 mph. Curveball 1/7, 2/8 action, near fastball arm speed and ranged between 56-60 mph. Changeup thrown with arm speed, straight action, strikes and sat 62-64 mph.
Andrew Gough, INF/RHP, Lake Forest HS, 2018
5-foot-10, 171-pound, solid build, two-way prospect. 4.35 runner down the line. Right-handed hitter, simple approach and good bat path; short and level getting extension through contact. Fluid rhythm, line-drive approach and good balance. Balanced setup, smooth load and short stride; 84 mph exit velocity. Defensively, flashed some bounce on the infield and a strong arm; 84 mph across the diamond with carry. On the mound, slow paced delivery, ability to repeat and some effort. Long arm action out of a high ¾ window. Both off-speed pitches flashed plus potential. Changeup, maintains arm speed, fade action and ranged between 71-75 mph. Curveball, better spin and action out of the stretch, 11/5 shape and sat 66-70 mph. Fastball flashed some arm-side-run, 76-78 mph, touching 80.
Matthew Grubb, INF/RHP, Lakes HS, 2018
5-foot-8, 160-pound two-way prospect. On the mound he showed above-average feel for his three-pitch mix. Over-the-top slot, short arm action and some quickness in his arm; some rhythm and effort in his delivery. Slider is a plus pitch for his age; fastball arm speed, sharp, late action 10/4 shape, thrown for strikes and sat 66-69 mph. Fastball, strikes, slight cutting action, 73-75 mph, touching 79. Changeup had feel, sinking action and sat 65-66 mph. Right-handed hitter, flashed some athleticism in his swing; level, long bat path, gets some extension through contact. Balanced setup, smooth pre-pitch load and leg-lift timing trigger. 84 mph exit velocity. Defensively, steady hands and a quick release on the infield. Short arm action, ¾ arm slot and clocked at 74 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 4.62 home-to-first.
Chase Hacker, LHP/OF, Normal West HS, 2018
5-foot-11, 155-pound two-way prospect. On the mound, the left-hander displayed some rhythm and stays on-line; short stride, upright finish and falls off towards third base at times. Long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Fastball clocked at 71-72 mph, touching 74. Curveball sat 55-57 mph. Changeup was 60-61 mph. Offensively, hits right-handed. Balanced setup, no load, short stride and average balance; long and level bat path through the hitting zone. 82 mph exit velocity. Defensively, in the outfield, long arm action from a high ¾ slot; throws clocked at 73 mph. Also, ran a 4.72 home-to-first.
Maxwell Herubin, INF/RHP, Carmel Catholic HS, 2019
5-foot-11, 165-pound two-way prospect. Projects well on the mound. Smooth rhythm, loose long arm action from a ¾, low ¾ slot. Stays on-line, lands square and finishes athletically, falling off towards first at times. Fastball, slight arm-side-run, thrown for strikes and clocked at 75-76 mph, touching 77. Curveball, some feel, sharp action with depth, 11/5 shape and ranged between 64-66 mph. Changeup, flashed fade and clocked at 65-69 mph. Offensively, flashed a quick bat and some looseness in the swing; 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Balanced setup, bars out some on his load and uphill path through the zone. Defensively, steady hands and a short arm action from a low ¾ slot; clocked at 70 mph across the diamond. Also, 4.62 runner down the line.
Nolan Kiel, RHP, Carmel Catholic HS, 2019
5-foot-8, 120-pound right-handed pitcher. Long arm action, from a high ¾ slot and some effort on the mound. Repeats delivery, stays in-line and an upright finish. Fastball works mainly straight and ranged between 73-75 mph. Changeup was his best secondary offering. Thrown with near fastball arm speed, down in the zone, with sink and clocked at 69-71 mph. Curveball, short break, 11/5 action and sat 65-67 mph.
Ryan Kordik, RHP/OF, Johnsburg HS, 2017
6-foot, 175-pound, athletic build, two-way prospect. Offensively, hits from the left-side of the plate. Crouched setup, early load, small stride and hits from a wide base. Made hard contact during his round of batting practice; 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively, in the outfield, short arm action from a high ¾ slot; throws flashed carry and were clocked at 81 mph. On the mound, some rhythm, stays on-line, square landing and regular effort in his delivery. Fastball, thrown for strikes, flashed slight run at times and clocked at 75-78 mph. Curveball, had feel, worked 12/6 and 11/5, ranged between 62-65 mph. Changeup, maintains good arm speed, works mostly straight, 68-70 mph.
Ben Kowalski, RHP, Ottawa HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 190-pound, durable build, well-proportioned right-handed hitter. On the mound, smooth rhythm, long loose arm action, high ¾ slot and regular effort; stays in-line, square landing. Fastball, thrown for strikes, flashes slight arm-side-arm and ranged between 77-81 mph. Curveball works between 12/6, 11/5, with some depth and clocked at 65-70 mph. Changeup, strikes, thrown near fastball arm speed, some sink and fade, 69-72 mph.
Luke Kulton, OF/RHP, Hoffman Estates HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 188-pound, strong build, two-way prospect. Offensively, balanced setup, no load, slight leg-lift stride and takes aggressive swings; 88 mph exit velocity. Long bat path and a pull approach. Defensively, short arm action from an over-the-top slot in the outfield. Throws clocked at 78 mph. Ran a 4.69 home-to-first. On the mound, threw with the same arm action and from the same slot as in the outfield. Big rocker step delivery with a coil at balance point; lands closed and slightly across body at times. Fastball clocked at 78-79 mph. Curveball ranged between 58-61 mph. Changeup worked 68-71 mph.
Jordan Litke, RHP, Warren HS, 2017
6-foot-3, 200-pound solid, sturdy lower-half, right-handed pitcher. On the mound, operated out of the stretch only. Repeated his delivery, high ¾ arm slot and regular effort in his delivery. Fastball worked mostly straight, occasional cutting action and clocked at 79-80 mph, touching 81. Changeup, strikes, feel, thrown with good arm speed, flashed sink and ranged between 70-73 mph. Curveball, struggled to get on top of it at times, 11/5 action and clocked at 63-65 mph.
Logan Mueller, OF/RHP, Lakes HS, 2019
5-foot-8, 140-pound two-way prospect. Offensively, hits from the right side. Pre-pitch rhythm and movement. Balanced setup, hands drop during his load and leg-lift timing trigger. Uphill bat path through the hitting zone; 76 mph exit velocity. Defensively, in the outfield, long and quick arm action; clocked at 77 mph. Flashes soft hands, attacks and plays through the baseball. Ran a 4.72 home-to-first. On the mound, displayed a quick arm out of high ¾ window and some effort in his delivery. Fastball was clocked at 77-78 mph, touching 79. Curveball, thrown near fastball arm speed, slurvy shape, works 10/4 and sat 67-69 mph. Also, features a knuckleball, clocked at 62-65 mph.
Trevor Niedzwiecki, C/RHP, Lake Zurich HS, 2017
5-foot-11, 170-pound, lanky, two-way prospect. Looks to project out best on the mound. The right-handed pitcher flashed fluid rhythm, repeats his delivery and throws three pitches for a strike. Clean, quick arm action, over-the-top slot; stays in-line, square landing, and athletic finish. Fastball, works mostly straight, slight cutting action at times and clocked at 79-81 mph, touching 82. Curveball had feel, 12/6 downer action, 66-68 mph. Changeup, maintains good arm speed, straight action and sat 73-75 mph. Offensively, balanced setup, drifts to his front-side, gets his lower half involved and uphill bat path; 86 mph exit velocity. Defensively, behind the plate, clean exchange, comes out of the crouch athletically on throws; stays on-line, short arm action, over-the-top slot and clocked at 74 mph. Pop times ranged between 2.12.-2.16. Also ran a 4.50 home-to-first.
Charlie Pakenas, RHP, York HS, 2018
6-foot-1, 175-pound, long-limbed, projectable, right-handed pitcher. On the mound, short, loose arm action, over-the-top slot and regular effort; slow paced, full windup, repeatable, drop and drive delivery. Fastball, down in the zone, flashed sink and clocked at 75-77 mph, touching 78. Curveball, slows arm, works between 11/5, 10/4 and ranged between 62-65 mph. Changeup located down in the zone, sinking action, slows arm and sat 72-74 mph.
Eddie Pietschmann, OF/RHP, Carmel Catholic HS, 2017
6-foot-4, 210-pound, imposing, physical specimen, two-way prospect. Exhibited impressive speed for his frame, 4.27 home-to-first. Offensively, made consistent loud contact during his round of batting practice; 90 mph exit velocity. Short, level bat path and gets extension through contact at times. Balanced setup, slight pre-pitch movement, short stride and excellent balance. Stays in-line, slightly closed landing at times and athletic finish. Fastball, thrown for strikes, works mainly straight, flashing slight cut at times; clocked at 75-78 mph. Curveball, showed feel, gets around it at times, clocked at 66-69 mph. Changeup, tendency to slow his arm and sat 73-73 mph.

5-foot-10, 155-pound two-way prospect. Offensively, balanced setup, smooth deep pre-pitch load, leg-lift timing trigger and average balance through contact. Long bat path that stays flat through the zone at times; 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively, quick exchange on the infield; clocked at 60 mph across the diamond. 4.98 runner down the line. On the mound, high ¾ arm slot and regular effort in his delivery. Flashed feel for three pitches. Fastball works straight and clocked at 70-71 mph. Curveball thrown for strikes, 12/6 to 11/5 shape and flashed depth at 60-62 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed, works straight and thrown for strikes at 62-64 mph.

6-foot, 155-pound two-way prospect. Offensively, balanced setup, slight bar load and leg-lift timing trigger; 71 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, hands work and gets rid of the ball in a hurry on the infield. Short arm action from a high ¾ slot, some accuracy and clocked at 66 mph. 4.75 runner down the line. On the mound works across his body with some effort in his delivery. Short arm action and an upright finish. Fastball clocked at 70-71 mph, touching 72. Curveball worked between 59-61 mph. Changeup sat 63-65 mph.
Nate Styles, RHP, Warren HS, 2017
6-foot-5, 180-pound, plenty of room for continued physical development, right-handed pitcher. On the mound works out of the stretch and is a true sidearm/submarine pitcher. Showed feel for all three of his pitches, worked the bottom of the strike zone and all his pitches have action; smooth rhythm, easy effort. Fastball, slight run and sink, thrown for strikes and clocked at 70-72 mph. Slider, good feel, sweeping action and ranged between 58-60 mph. Maintained his arm speed on his changeup, run and fade action, 61-64 mph.
