Executive Director

Leading up to the start of the high school season, we will count down the top 75 preseason teams every day as part of our comprehensive season coverage:

Team: Barrington
Preseason Rank:
2013 Record:
Mid-Suburban League (West)
IHSA Class:
Head Coach:
Pat Wire

Playoff Run: Lost in Regional Final
2013 Final Rank:  Not Ranked

Returning Starters: 5
Returning Pitchers:

Wyatt Trautwein, RHP, 2014 (Bradley)
Mitch Pfeiffer, OF, 2015
Jake Coon, 1B, 2015
Jake Peterson, OF/C, 2015
Daniel Kubiuk, INF/P, 2014
Anthony Delaurentis, RHP/INF, 2015
Jack Lenz, C, 2014
Jimmy Day, INF/OF, 2016

Mitch Pfeiffer
. The right-handed hitting outfielder is one of the top athletes in Illinois’ 2015 class, evidenced by his 6.57 60 he ran over the winter. His speed translates on the field, too. As a sophomore starter, the 5-foot-11 Pfeiffer led the Mid-Suburban League with 25 stolen bases and 36 runs scored while batting .402.

Daniel Kubiuk
. The 6-foot, 190-pound senior missed last season with an ankle injury. But the two-way player knows how to win. As the school’s starting quarterback, he led Barrington to a 10-2 record while earning All-Area accolades on the gridiron.

Ryan Lidge, C (Notre Dame)
Scott Nelson, RHP

RHP Wyatt Trautwein returns as the Broncos’ No. 1. The 6-foot-4 Bradley recruit posted a 6-3 record with 67 strikeouts in 63 innings as a junior last spring.

Barrington looks to repeat as MSL West champions and has the talent to win the overall MSL title. Last year, the Broncos lost to Rolling Meadows in the championship game. Although losing C Ryan Lidge, who was one of the top prospects in the state last year, is a big blow, the Broncos have excellent team speed and depth. Pfeiffer and 1B Jake Coon power a strong junior class, and both started as sophomores last season. Trautwein anchors the rotation and has the stuff to be the conference’s most dominant pitcher. Junior Anthony Delaurentis will also be counted on this season to deliver on the mound. The Broncos also have a promising crop of 2016 prospects, headlined by INF Jimmy Day.

Barrington has the talent to repeat as MSL West champions and make a deeper postseason run than last year, when it fell in the regional final.
