Scouting Notes: Lisle vs. Westmont

The Lisle Lions opened up the week with a win at Westmont, beating the Sentinels 10-5.  The Lions scored five of their runs in the 6th inning to pull ahead 7-2. Westmont made a strong comeback of their own in the 6th to pull within two and had two men on base but couldn’t drive home the tying runs.  Ty Howell, was the winning pitcher for the Lions going 5 2/3 IP with 6 K’s.

Scouting Notes

Ty Howell, senior for Lisle went 5 2/3 IP, 6 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks.  His fastball was in the 73-76 mph and he was able to run it up to 78 mph.  Howell helped himself out at the plate, going 3-4 with a triple and 2 RBI.

Jared Jayne, another senior for Lisle came in during the 6th inning and was sitting 78-80 mph with his fastball and featured a nice changeup that showed good arm side run.

Kevin Coppin, Lisle HS, Class of 2014 looks to be a standout catcher for Lisle, the physically strong athlete had a 3-4 day at the plate with a double and RBI.

Jean Pietrzak, Westmont HS, Class of 2013, was the starting pitcher for the Sentinels, his fastball sat 78-82 mph and he ran it up to 84 mph.  Pietrzak is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound right handed pitcher with a long, lanky projectable frame. He also throws two breaking balls, a 63-65 mph curveball, and a 71-73 mph slider with a tight spin.

Charlie Donovan, Westmont HS, Class of 2015 came in for relief and might be one of the best freshmen in the state.  The 6-fooot, 160-pound RHP/SS ran his fastball up to 83 mph and features a 69 mph breaking ball with tight spin and sharp break.
