Stock Report: 2014 RHP Wyatt Trautwein

Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Illinois

Wyatt Trautwein is a high end pitching prospect out of Barrington HS. A 2014 graduate, Trautwein saw three varsity starts as a sophomore in which he went 2-1 in those starts.

Wyatt Trautwein comes from a long line of professional pitchers. His father, David, pitched for six years in the New York Mets organization and is now the owner of Professional Baseball Instruction of Illinois. Wyatt’s grandfather, Jack, and uncle, John, also both pitched professionally. Jack pitched in the Philadelphia Phillies organization in the early 1950’s while his uncle John was called up to the big leagues by the Boston Red Sox in 1988.

There is obviously a wealth of pitching knowledge in the Trautwein family which has groomed Wyatt to be the pitcher he is today.

This past summer Trautwein appeared in the Midwest Future Games at the University of Illinois. The lanky 6-foot-3, 175-pounder sat at 84-85 with his fastball, operating from a high ¾ arm slot. Trautwein shows solid life on his fastball and a presence on the mound that is far advanced from his peers.

Trautwein’s baseball bloodlines and projectable frame make will make him a hot commodity in the 2014 class.
