After having SEC schools bearing down on him at the 2014 Future Games, Johnson established himself as the country’s top catch-and-throw prospect in 2015 while making the grand tour, participating in the Tournament of Stars, Area Code Games and Under Armour All-America Game before heading overseas and winning a gold medal with Team USA. At the Under Armour Game, he back-picked a runner at second base and had an in-game pop time of 1.85 seconds. The Mississippi recruit has a strong frame at 6 feet, 200 pounds with a relaxed approach and rhythm at the plate. He has strong hands and forearms, contributing to his power generated by an aggressive lower half. There are questions around his offensive upside, but his ability on defense is unparalleled in this class.
