Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN on August 8 in Warrensburg, Missouri at the University of Central Missouri.  Nearly 40 players participated from Missouri and Kansas in the 2020, 2019 and 2018 classes.

We will break down the event position-by-position, taking a look at the middle infielders today.   Players are listed below in alphabetical order.

Middle Infielders

Carter Bither SS / Springfield Catholic , MO / 2020

Bither is a lean and projectable 6-foot-2 150-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.16 60 and a 4.30 home to first.  He has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, smooth rhythm, efficient load, short in line stride, hands work inside the ball, high finish in hands, solid contact gap to gap during hitting evaluations.  On the infield, 80 mph positional velo, loose over the top release, quick feet to the ball on time with exchange, athletic actions. Showed increases in all areas from fall showcase.

Max Elmer 2B / Glendale , MO / 2019

Elmer is a 5-foot-8 150-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.21 60 and a 4.53 home to first.  He has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, controlled leg lift, accelerated bat speed, level to extension, loose hands, feel for the barrel, compact and repeatable.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velo, quick feet to the ball, works behind the ball, create momentum, solid actions, arm works from a high three quarters arm slot, plays with a high engine, showed baseball instincts during game action. 

Dawson Kirtley SS / Centralia , MO / 2018

Kirtley is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.57 60 an a 4.63 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, loads into back side, smooth rhythm in hands, in line stride, hands work inside the ball, mostly middle to opposite field contact during batting practice.  On the infield, 73 mph positional velo, short three quarters arm slot, keeps ball high in transfer, smooth footwork on time with glove to hand transfer, made all plays cleanly, mostly accurate throws.

Austin Holt 2B / Galena , MO / 2018

Holt is a strong 5-foot-11 185-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.31 60 and a 4.46 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 85 mph. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load into back side with controlled leg lift, attacks ball, quick bat speed, occasional pull side power, gap-to-gap approach, repeats.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, long arm circle, smooth feet to the ball, fields ball out front in athletic position, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws.

JT Mabry SS / DeSmet , MO / 2018

Mabry is a 5-foot-11 150-pound switch-hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and a 4.72 home to first.  He has an 84 mph exit velocity from the left side and a 85 mph exit velocity from the right side. At the plate, similar swing mechanics from both side, bit of a higher leg lift from left side, smooth rhythm and tempo in swing, short to contact, hard solid contact from both side, gap to gap.  On the infield, 80 mph positional velo, smooth and under control actions, momentum through the catch with fluid transfer and soft hands, over the top release, accurate throws.

Theron Morgan Jr OF / O'Fallon, IL / 2019

Morgan is an athletic 5-foot-8 145-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Illinois’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.07 60 and a 4.65 home to first.  He has a 75 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, minimal load, no wasted movement, early to toe touch, loose hands, quick bat speed, consistent line drives to the middle of the field, hands control the bat head. On the infield, 71 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, quick to the ball soft hands, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws. 

Cale Sackewitz SS / Blue Springs South, MO / 2019

Sackewitz is a strong 5-foot-9 185-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.14 60 and a 4.57 home to first.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, simple and repeatable swing, smooth load, aggressive bat speed, slightly closed stride, swing produced line drives to middle and opposite field gap.  On the infield, 77 mph positional velo, quick catch and throw, works behind ball, hands and feet work on time together, stays under control, mostly accurate throws. 

Kyle Weber SS / Marshall, MO / 2018

Weber is a 6-foot1 180-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and a 4.59 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and thin set up, slightly open, in line stride, hands manage the barrel, level path, body stays under control, gap-to-gap approach.  On the infield, 69 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, throws with momentum with feet, works behind the ball, field in position ready to throw, solid actions with smooth transfer, mostly accurate throws.
