Unsigned Senior Showcase Spotlight: St. Charles North's Sam Hubbe

The Prep Baseball Report Unsigned Senior Showcase at the Max in McCook, IL will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2014. The open showcase is geared towards all uncommitted 2015 graduates, and will include several area colleges in attendance. Nearly 70 schools were in attendance at last year’s event.

Sam HubbeSt. Charles North’s Sam Hubbe is an unsigned senior right-handed pitcher who is drawing attention from several Divison-I schools thanks to a lanky, projectable frame, and a fastball that can touch the mid-80’s. At February’s Preseason All-State Showcase Hubbe’s fastball sat in the 81-82 mph range. Hubbe is currently ranked No. 216 in Illinois' 2015 class.

During the spring high school season Hubbe posted a 1.8 ERA over 34 innings, with 36 strikeouts and 13 walks.

In June, at Harvey Foster’s Northwest Suburban Baseball Tournament at St. Charles North High School, he showed improved fastball velocity, in the 83-86 mph range, paired with a 65-67 mph breaking ball.

Sam Hubbe Scouting Report

6-foot-2, 165-pound right handed pitcher. Drop and drive style delivery, works with effort. Arm operates from an over the top slot. Fastball has occasional run, mostly straight, 81-82 mph, also used a two seam at 75-77 mph. Curveball works on 12/6 plane, aggressive arm speed, showed some feel, 69-70 mph. Throws a straight changeup, 70-72 mph.
