Unsigned Senior Spotlight: MIF Aaron Meyer

By Steve Nielsen

Today’s Player Spotlight is on unsigned senior Aaron Meyer. Meyer is a middle infielder for the Bellvillle West Maroons. Meyer is coming off of a solid year, batting .324, capped by a first-team Southwestern All-Conference selection at second base.

Meyer is a 6-foot, 160-pound middle infielder who impresses with his smooth fielding, soft hands, and all-around defensive actions. Meyer displays quick footwork and the ability to play through the baseball. He shows excellent lateral range along with being able to play the baseball on the run.  He displays accurate throws across the diamond and his arm has been clocked at 79 mph.

The left-handed hitter shows some bat speed with a short, compact swing which produces gap to gap power with some back spin and carry. Meyer also impresses with his feet as he runs a 6.97 60.

Meyer looks to improve on last year’s stellar season, as he hopes to lead the Maroon’s deep into the playoffs in 2013.
