Unsigned Senior Spotlight: OF Daniel Cutkomp

Today’s Player Spotlight is unsigned senior Daniel Cutkomp. Cutkomp is a Class of 2013 graduate from Rock Island Alleman HS. As a junior, Cutkomp led the Pioneers to a state runner-up finish in Class 2A. This year the Pioneers will have a slightly tougher route to the State Championship game as they will be bumped to class 3A in 2013. However, there’s no task to tall for Cutkomp, as he looks to improve on his .339 batting average, 4 home runs, and 34 RBI from a year ago.

Cutkomp displayed a formidable skill set at the invitation only Top Prospect Showcase in June. Cutkomp is a strong 5-foot-10, 180-pound outfielder who impresses with his athleticism, running a 6.85 in the 60 yard dash. Defensively, Cutkomp puts his speed to good use, exhibiting quick feet in the outfield, getting behind the baseball and on top of his throws.  Cutkomp possesses a strong arm from the outfield, as he has been clocked at 88 mph with good carry and accuracy through his target.

At the plate, Cutkomp displays a balanced setup with a smooth load and short stride. His strong lower half and compact swing allows him to spray line drives to the gaps.

In 2013 the Pioneers will have plenty of seniors with playoff experience. Lead by Cutkomp and University of Illinois signee Cody Sedlock, Rock Island Alleman is poised to duplicate another exciting playoff run in 2013.
