Conor McCarthyConor McCarthy, RHP, Glenbrook South HS, 2014
At 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, McCarthy is an imposing presence on the mound. At two events in late July, early August, we saw McCarthy up to 89 mph with his fastball, sitting in the 87-88.

His velocity in the summer was up from what he showed at the PBR Preseason All-State Showcase in February, when he sat 84-86, touching 87, with a 65-67 mph curveball and a 69-71 mph changeup.

McCarthy’s size and arm strength make him one of the more desirable unsigned right-handers in Illinois’ 2014 class. He’s currently ranked No. 48 in Illinois and No. 239 overall. Pitching behind LHP Kyle Pauly (now at Southern Illinois) and several other senior pitchers, McCarthy didn’t see much action on the mound as a junior, but he will be counted on heavily next spring to keep the perennially strong Titans once again in the top 25 state rankings.

We recently caught up with McCarthy to see where his recruitment was at.

“Over the summer I had received interest from a lot of schools, but as of right now I've had contact with University of Richmond, Bucknell University, Morehead State, and Webster University,” said McCarthy, who scored a 26 on his ACT and holds a 3.4 GPA.
