Executive Director
Sam Heilenbach, C, Lyons Township HS, 2014
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Heilenbach is one of the top offensive uncommitted catchers in Illinois, as he has proved over the last two seasons. The right-handed hitter has a simple, aggressive plate approach. He has a balanced setup with a quiet stride/load while creating rhythm in his swing. At the PBR Top Prospect Showcase in June, he displayed an advanced bat path: short to the ball and level through the zone, and gets full extension through contact while maintaining excellent balance throughout.
A top-level student, Heilenbach showed solid receiving skills while registering consistent pop times of 2.04-2.07. He also ran a 7.35 60. Aside from his catching abilities, Heilenbach is low-80s on the mound and also plays third base.
Heilenbach was the starting catcher for Lyons Township as a junior, and helped the Lions to the summer state championship in 2012 and a runner-up finish in 2013.
