Weekly Diamond Notes

We began this year’s PBR Player of the Week on Wednesday. LHP Reid Detmers (Glenwood, 2017) was the winner this week. The Louisville commit, threw a no-hitter and struck out 14 in a 4-0 win over Springfield Southeast. Click Here to read about Detmers early season success.

Every week we will note the players that just missed out on the award with our Weekly Diamond notes. Let’s take a look at some of the players around the state who have gotten off to a hot start during the spring 2017 campaign:

WEEK 1 PERFORMANCES

Cameron Reed, RHP, Huntley, 2017
Luther College commit. Threw a five inning no-hitter in a 13-0 win over Rockford Boylan last Wednesday. Reed went five innings, no hits, no runs, struck out eight and walked one.  

Donivan Williams, SS, Richards, 2017
Illinois State commit. Williams had an impressive four games last week at the Daily Times Classic Baseball Tournament in Maryville, Tennessee. In the four games he went 6-10 (.600), with two doubles, two homeruns, eight RBI, six runs scored and walked twice. On the season he is hitting .353. Richards HS is now 5-2.

Cole Kmet, LHP/1B, St. Viator, 2017
Committed to Notre Dame for football. Kmet is one of the top two-way seniors in the state and the leader for the Lions. In four games last week, he hit .583 with three home runs, two doubles and six runs batted in. On the mound he twirled three innings and struck out seven in a no decision.
