Chicagoland Summer ID: Catcher Analysis
September 10, 2026
On Tuesday, June 9th, our staff hosted the Chicagoland Summer ID at Triton College in River Grove, IL. This event was host to nearly 60 players from the surrounding area and even some players from down state, kicking off our summer circuit on a high note with a plethora of players showing well for themselves.
Today, we are beginning our post-event rollout with a look at every single catcher from the day, found below.
Jaythan Collazo (Oak Park-River Forest, 2028) and Jack Kaplan (Loyola, 2027) are a couple right-handed hitting catchers that showed well on the day.
Kaplan, the No. 297 ranked player in the state, showed a strong swing with consistent line-drive feel up the middle of the field (T100 mph EV), pairing with a strong arm and quick release (T79 mph; 1.86 pop-time).
Collazo was also impressive on both sides of the ball, showcasing a loose and clean swing with athletic actions behind the plate, reaching as low as 1.94 for his pop-time.
