South Suburban Summer ID: Event Analysis

On Tuesday, June 17th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff hosted the South Suburban Summer ID at Ozinga Field in Crestwood, IL. This event hosted just over 20 kids and allowed our staff to get a good look at some of the top talent in the area.

Today, we are releasing every single scouting report from the day, along with a Top-5 ranking of the top performers from the day, found below.

One name to note that just missed the cut was OF Scott Gillen (Waubonsie Valley, 2027). He showed an easy swing that worked up the middle throughout his round with athletic actions both in the outfield and infield.

Top Overall Prospects

1. Adam Kozak, Lockport (IL), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/OF
Body: 5-10, 160 pounds.
Hit: LHH. Athletic, balanced stance, with a longer stride Loose and whippy, flat through the zone, whole field power, can drive it the other way, easy bat-speed, can match plane.
Power: 99 mph max exit velocity (89.3 avg.); 366-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 83 mph. Full circle, pushes ball back, accurate 3/4 slot.
Defense: Athletic, quick to the ball, throws on a line, works on a hop.
Athletic Testing: 6.57 runner in the 60-yard dash; 29.20-inch max vertical jump.
