Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Mark Chemello

Mark Chemello, RHP, Lincoln-Way East HS
Lincoln-Way East made a surprising run to the Class 4A supersectionals in large part because of Chemello’s emergence as the team’s dominant No. 1. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-hander finished with a 9-1 record, which included a critical complete-game shutout against rival Lincoln-Way North in sectionals. Chemello, who fills up the zone with three pitches, ended with a 1.88 ERA with 47 strikeouts to 7 walks in 52 innings last spring.

Chemello possesses tremendous feel and command of three pitches. Nothing Chemello throws sits still, including an 83-85 mph fastball that has late sink and run. He locates his 69-mph curveball down in the zone, and his 74-76 mph changeup has arm-side sink.
