PBR Louisiana State Rankings Update: 2025 Class (August 2023)

The busy summer season has officially come to an end for high school baseball prospects across the country, which means it's time for an update to our state rankings.  We spent the summer evaluating prospects at our events, and we also kept close tabs on their performances for their respective summer teams.  Today, we've decided to update our state rankings for the 2025 class.  In this update, we welcome one prospect back into the Top 10 and we've expanded the list to 190 prospects in total.  The 2025 class in Louisiana is shaping up to be one of the more deeper classes in recent memory, and there's still likely a lot of movement within this group, especially after we see many of these prospects at our State Games from 09/30/23-10/01/23 at Alex Box Stadium, home of the defending National Champion LSU Tigers.  Below, we give a snapshot of the Top 10, dive into the Top 5 players, and also highlight a few players who increased their stock over the summer.  Be sure to follow us, across all of our social media platforms, as we continue our state rankings updates over the next couple of weeks.

1. 2025 RHP/INF Marshall Louque (Lutcher HS)

The Lutcher HS product holds on to his status as the top ranked prospect in the state's 2025 class, after another busy summer.  Louque led the Bulldogs to the quarterfinal round of the LHSAA playoffs this past spring and will once again lead Lutcher this coming spring, both on the mound and at the plate.  Where Louque ends up playing defensively remains to be seen, but if he continues to fill out his 6'3" 175 lbs. frame, then a move to one of the corner infield positions seems likely.  On the mound, is where Louque provides most of his upside and promise, and that was on display at this summer's Underclass Area Code Games, where our own VP of Scouting, Shooter Hunt, was able to watch.  Louque displayed effortless athleticism on the mound and a low pulse with a fastball in the 87-90 mph range, that he complemented with a mid-70's slider and good feel for a 79-81 mph change up. 

 

 

2. 2025 OF William Patrick (St. Frederick HS)

This summer's Future Games was a "coming out party" of sorts for the St. Frederick HS product.  The state's top ranked uncommitted prospect looked like a "man on a mission" from the time that he arrived at Lakepoint for the Future Games, and it all started on Day 1 with his impressive workout.  Patrick turned in the second best 60 time of the event at a 6.42 and also showed a plus arm from the outfield at 92 mph.  His in-game production and the quality of his at-bats were even more impressive, as he finished the Future Games going 3-4 with a HR, 3B, 5 RBI, 3 SB, and 4 BB.  He's a supreme athlete at 6'2" 190 lbs. and he's only scratching the surface at what his potential could possibly be.

3. 2025 C Presley Courville (Barbe HS)

Barbe once again won another state title in May, coming from behind, to defeat the defending state champion West Monroe Rebels, and Courville played a big part in the team's title run.  The Texas A&M commit and former Jr. Future Gamer virtually stopped each opponents running game last season, as he finished the year throwing out over 40% of would be base stealers.  He also enjoyed a nice sophomore campaign at the plate, as he finished hitting at a .337 clip with 3 HR, 7 2B, and 2 3B to go along with 37 R and 28 RBI.  Courville saved his biggest home run of the season for the state semifinals against district-rival Sulphur, where he belted a two-run home run to left field to put the Bucs up 2-1, in a game that they eventually won.  

4. 2025 RHP Sawyer Pruitt (Live Oak HS)

No player saw their stock rise more this spring than Pruitt and he checks in at #4 in this rankings update.  The Ole Miss commit has arguably the most projectable frame (6'6" 215 lbs.) of anyone in the class and his upside remains one of the highest as well.  His fastball routinely sits in the mid-upper 80's and bumps 90-91 mph, and he's also showed a steady improvement in the shape of his mid 70's breaking ball, which has the chance to be a future above-average secondary offering at the next level.  Combine that with feel for a 76-78 mph change up, and you've got a potential weekend starter in the SEC conference.

5. 2025 MIF Jack Ruckert (Catholic BR HS)

The Catholic HS product enjoyed a successful sophomore campaign for the Bears, as he was a mainstay at the shortstop position.  Heading into his junior campaign, Ruckert will be a big part of the Bears success this coming year, as they look to win another Select DI State Title.  If the summer was any indication of how things will go for him this year, then Catholic High fans can expect a big year from Ruckert.  The LSU recruit went on a tear on the summer circuit, which included our National Program Invitational in early June.  Our regional PBR Draft HQ advisor, Ian Smith, was on hand for this year's NPI, where he saw Ruckert take some of the best swings of the tournament, which included a pull-side triple that registered at 98.4 mph off the bat.

+ 2025 RHP/INF Bryce Robinson (St. Augustine HS)

The Tulane commit caught a lot of eyes on the summer circuit, especially at this summer's Underclass Area Code Games.  In his outing, Robinson ran his fastball up to 91 mph and sat 88-90 mph with some slight cutting action, while also flashing a developing 72-77 mph breaking ball.  He's an athletic mover with a loose arm, and a projectable and wiry 6'3" 150 lbs. frame that's easy to dream on.  We've also seen Robinson's upside as a position-player as well, where he's displayed a fluid and repeatable swing to go along with smooth actions on the infield, and he's also a really good runner that we've at a 6.74 in the 60.  It's safe to say that there's a lot left in the tank for the St. Augustine HS product, as he jumps back into the Top 10 in this update.  

+ 2025 RHP Cade Durbin (Parkview Baptist HS)

The Parkview Baptist HS product is another hurler in the state's '25 class that projects for more to come.  Durbin was a member of our Future Games team this summer and he turned in one of the better, if not best, pitching performances for our squad.  He works quick and moves athletically down the slope and hides the ball well with some "cross-fire" action.  Durbin sat in the 83-85 mph range with his fastball and was able to move the ball to all quadrants of the zone.  He's also got feel for his change up to both righties and lefties, but it's his 71-72 mph breaking ball with spin rates in the 2750-2850 RPM range that has us and college recruiters excited, as it has the chance to be a real weapon at the next level.  Durbin is also one of the youngest prospects in the class, as he just turned 16 years old.  

+ 2025 LHP Bryce Wilson (Chalmette HS)

Along with his Future Games teammate above in Durbin; Wilson also had one of the better Future Games pitching performances for our team this summer.  The Chalmette HS product releases the ball from a lower 3/4 slot with a lower vertical approach angle.  His fastball sits in the 83-86 mph range with good life and spin rates in the 2400-2550 RPM range.  Wilson is also able to locate his heater to both sides of the plate, as well as up and down in the zone, and he pairs it well with a bigger "1-7" shaped low-70's curveball, sharper mid-70's slider with some sweep, and a late-fading 77-78 mph change up.  He's a competitor with a bulldog mentality and that was evident in his Future Games outing, as he finished his 3 IP giving up only 1 H and 0 ER with 4 K's.
