Future Games: Day 1

Day 1 of the Future Games displayed some of the top position players in the class of 2017 and some select 2018 classes for a positional workout.  Over 150 scouts were in attendance to see these players perform at the beautiful Grand Park Baseball Complex. 

Tomorrow will begin the game portion of the Premier event for the class of 2017 with game 1 between Team Wisconsin v. Team Iowa/Minnesota at 8 am and will end with Team Virginia/Maryland against Team Tennessee at 8pm. 

Before we move forward, let�??s take a look back at the performance of the position players for Team Virginia/Maryland at the PBR Future Games.

+ Luke Oliphant had a strong workout on the day, using the middle of the field during his BP session.  Oliphant showed off one of the higher tier arms from the outfield getting up to 88 mph.

+ Kristan Curry Jr. had the best 60-yard dash for Team Virginia/Maryland, posting a 6.87.  The raw and talented INF/OF had a short stroke during BP and displayed nice athleticism.

+ James Moses (pictured right) showed a short and simple swing at the plate during the BP portion for Team Virginia/Maryland. Moses also displayed an accurate arm from the outfield at 80 mph. 

+ John Andreoli displayed good hand eye in the middle of the field during the defensive session and also showed a level bath path with some bat speed during the BP portion.

+ Connor Shockly had solid workout on the day running a 7.02 60-yard dash and showing a quick bat during BP.  He was 79 across the infield and got up to 84 mph on exit velocity.

+ Cal Barrett (MI) showed some pop in his bat getting up to 90 mph exit velocity, tying for best of Team Virginia/Maryland. The catcher had a quick exchange with a catcher velocity of 76 mph and a pop time of 2.10.

+ Logan Barker put together a solid workout on all aspects of the day, running a 7.18 60-yard dash just under 80 mph across the diamond, and an exit velocity of 88 mph. 

+ Evan Blum got up to 87 mph exit velocity and displayed a quick bat during the BP session.  Blum got as low as a 2.11 on his pop time with a catcher velocity of 73 mph.

+ Jordan Marvel used his short stroke to tie for the tops in exit velocity for Team Virginia/Maryland at 90 mph.  The two-way talent is poised to also show off his arm on the mound during Game 2 for Team Virginia/Maryland.

+ Jacob Paulishak (pictured right)showed a level bat path getting to 85 mph in exit velocity. An intriguing prospect with his frame (6-foot-2, 175-pounds) and athleticism.  

+ Ryan Steckline used a level bat pat to get up to 83 mph in exit velocity.  The lefty hitter filled the right field gap and is another two way prospect to watch out for in Game 2 with his projectable 6-foot-4 220-pound frame and interesting arm action.
