Fall Underclass Games: Catchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the Fall Underclass Games at the University of Kansas on Saturday, October 20. Over 50 players in the 2021-2022 classes from around the region attended.
Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.
Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos. Today will take a closer look at the catchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.
Catchers
Alex Biondo C / 3B / Ray-Pec, MO / 2022Biondo is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting middle infield and catching prospect in Missouri’s 2022 class. At the event he ran a 7.97 60 yard dash, 4.64 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 74 mph. During batting practice, Biondo starts with a slightly opened stance, quiet load with a toe-tap into backside, simple swing, high finish with hands. On the infield, he attacked the baseball, showed clean transfers, high three-quarter arm slot, positional velocity of 69 mph, fairly accurate throws. Behind the plate, Biondo has an athletic and balanced set up, clean transfers, high three-quarter arm slot, pop times between 2.22 and 2.35 seconds, positional velocity of 70 mph, accurate throws. |
Ryan Carolan C / RHP / St. John Vianney, MO / 2021Carolan is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 6.93 second 60 yard dash, 4.40 home-to-first and posted an 86 mph exit velocity, second highest recorded at the event. During batting practice, Carolan starts with a wide stance, quiet load, in line stride, level bat path, extension through the baseball, showed hard contact and plus pop to left field. Mitchael Casement C / 3B / Maize, KS / 2021Casement is a 5-foot-10, 75-pound right-handed hitting catcher and corner infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class out of Wichita. At the event he ran a 8.15 second 60 yard dash, 4.71 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. During batting practice, Casement shows a simple, compact and repeatable swing, hard line drives to the middle of the field, athletic stance, level bat path, showed feel for the barrel. Dillon Houk C / 3B / Liberty North , MO / 2022Houk is a big bodied 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher and corner infield prospect in Missouri’s 2022 class. He ran a 7.76 second 60, 4.41 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, starts open, simple weight shift to load, some rhythm with hands, slightly closed off stride, level bat path. Defensively on the infield, Houk moves well side-to-side, attacks the baseball, clean transfers, positional velocity of 69 mph, mostly accurate throws. Brady Kaplan C / 3B / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2021Kaplan is a 5-foot-9, 195-pound right-handed hitting catching prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran a 8.15 second 60 yard dash, 4.70 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 82 mph. During batting practice, Malan starts in a slightly open and athletic stance, simple leg lift into his load, loose hands with rhythm, quick bat, level bat path, feel for the barrel, showed some pop to the middle of the field. Lucas Pringle C / 3B / Mill Valley , KS / 2021Pringle is a 6-foot, 155-pound, athletic left-handed hitting catching prospect in Kansas’ 2021 class.
