Young is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2021 class.  He ran a 7.54 60, a 4.78 home to first and had an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and balanced set up with some pre-pitch rhythm, controlled leg lift, in line stride, has range in swing, middle of the field approach. Behind the plate, short over the top arm slot, clean transfer and throw, fluid footwork, most throws are accurate, pop times between 2.22 and 2.40-seconds, 70 mph positional velocity. 10/20/18 - Young has a lean build and projectable athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. At the event he ran a 7.26 second 60 yard dash, 4.41 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. During batting practice Young produced mostly line drives and ground balls, balanced set up, mini leg kick into load, easy swing, level bat path, smooth and repeatable swing, gap-to-gap approach. Defensively, Young has an athletic stance, clean transfers, fluid footwork at times, over the top arm slot, pop times between 2.21 and 2.27 second at the event, positional velocity of 66 mph, accurate throws. On the mound, Young has a smooth delivery with some rhythm, repeats, works downhill, long and clean arm action, over the top arm slot. At the event, fastball was 69-73 mph, thrown to both sides of the plat, produced some ground balls, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, mostly gradual action but sharp at times, near fastball arm speed, 60-65 mph.

6/5/18 - Young is a 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.30 60 and a 4.56 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity.   At the plate, balanced stance, reverse to tap, in line stride, level swing path, middle of the field line drives during hitting evals. Behind the plate, 2.16 to 2.28-second pop times, 70 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, aggressive feet creating momentum to throw, clean exchange, throws are mostly accurate with some carry. On the mound, comes from a high three quarters slot, throws with regular effort, speeds up tempo after leg lift, in line stride, level shoulders, athletic position in finish, fastball at 70-74 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, gradual action, throws with near fastball arm speed, shows feel for breaking ball and command of fastball.

2/16/18 - Young is a 5-foot-10 140-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.77 home to first and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin and open stance, controlled leg lift, slightly open stride, mostly middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.22 and 2.38-seconds, 70 mph positional velocity, offset feet in set up, over the top release, clean exchanges, somewhat accurate throws to the bag. On the mound, oung has an over the top arm slot, controlled leg lift, accelerates sown the mound, throws with some effort, keep shoulders level, fastball worked 73-75 mph, showed some late cutting action, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 65-68 mph, change up at 70-73 mph, fastball arm speed, has command.
