Missouri Underclass Games: Left Handed Pitchers Analysis

On June 13, Prep Baseball Report Missouri held the Missouri Underclass Games.  Over 80 players in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes attended.

In the days to come, we will break down the event position-by-position.  Today we will take a look at the Left Handed Pitchers. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Player's profiles have been updated with profile pictures, videos and stats from the event. Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

Left Handed Pitchers

Jack Arbuckle OF / Webster Groves, MO / 2019

Arbuckle is a 5-foot-11 185-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Arbuckle has a projectable frame with an over the top release point, in line stride, short arm circle, controlled delivery, fastball worked 67-69 mph, some with late sinking action, breaking ball at 61-63 mph, rolling 12-to-6 action, worked corners of the plate and forced contact in game action.

Sam Brady LHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Brady is a 6-foot-1 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Brady worked his fastball at 81-82 mph, shows good command, has 2-seam running action, late, loose arm action, fluid and repeatable delivery, athletic, sharp 12-to-6 breaking ball, 64-68 mph, change up with arm side release at 72 mph, throws for strike, challenges hitters with three pitches, aggressive in zone, high percentage of strikes during outing.

Jesse George OF / Lee's Summit, MO / 2020

George is a 6-foot-2 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. George hides the ball well, comes from an over the top release, slight rotation at balance point, slightly closed stride adding to deception, loose arm action, fastball 71-74 mph, some with late sink, breaking ball at 60-62 mph, 1-to-7 shape, lean frame with long levers.

Stone Hewlett LHP / Rockhurst, MO / 2020

Hewlett is a 6-foot 155-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Hewlett worked with a quick tempo between pitches, athletic frame with athletic delivery, slight tuck at balance point, high three quarters release, quick arm speed, repeats delivery, throws downhill, life at the end of fastball, 78-82 mph, slider has sharp and late 1-to-7 shape, aggressive in the zone with command of both pitches, frame capable of added strength to already clean arm action and pitchability.

Ryan Hoshaw LHP / Francis Howell Central, MO / 2021

Hoshaw is a 6-foot 155-pound left handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Hoshaw has a slender frame with quick arm speed, short arm circle, accelerates down the mound, high leg lift with raising hands adds deception, hides ball well, releases out front, throws with some effort, fastball at 75-78 mph, some with late running action, breaking ball as 1-to-7 shape, 65-66 mph.

Dylan Lankford OF / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2019

Lankford is a 5-foot-9 150-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Lankford has an athletic frame, ball comes out of ear with over the top release, some and repeatable delivery, smooth acceleration, works downhill, quick and loose arm action, fastball at 75-77 mph, some with late running action, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, tight spin, some with late break.

Joseph Louis LHP / Vianney, MO / 2020

Louis is a 5-foot-6 145-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Louis has compact delivery, repeatable, high three quarters release, works in line down the mound, sometimes opening early, fastball has arm side run, 68-71 mph, breaking ball has 2-to-8 shape, gradual break.

 

 

Mark Shallenberger 1B / St. Louis Priory, MO / 2019

Shallenberger is a 6-foot-1 185-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Shallenberger has an over the top release, aggressive stride length, in line down the mound, wide shoulders, strong lower half, throws with some effort, works the entire zone with fastball at 77-79 mph, curveball has 1-to-7 spin, some with late break.
