Prep Baseball Report Missouri held the St. Louis Winter Open on February 9 at the Sports Barn in Wentzville, Missouri. Over ninety players participated in the 2022 to 2018 classes.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Chase Beattie 3B / SS / Holt, MO / 2022

Beattie is an athletic 5-foot-7, 197-pound, right-handed hitting infielder in Missouri’s 2022 class. He ran a 7.16 60 and posted an exit velocity of 92 mph. During batting practice, Beattie starts with an athletic base, minimal movement into his load position, quiet hands, in line stride, slight uphill bat path, showed pop during his round of hitting. In the infield, he showed good actions, fluid footwork, quick transfer to throw, short and quick arm action, momentum towards target, positional velo of 84 mph, very accurate throws.

Anthony Boyer 2B / OF / Blue Springs , MO / 2022

Boyer is a 5-foot-7 135-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open set up, smooth load and fluid rhythm into a short stride, short and level bat path and a pull-side approach, 75 mph exit velocity.  On the infield, quick and fluid feet, works toward first base, soft hands and clean exchange, short arm action, high 3/4 release making throws up to 70 mph

 

Andrew Castelli 2B / OF / Fort Zumwalt South, MO / 2021

Castelli is a 5-foot-9 185-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.82 60 and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open set up, smooth load and fluid rhythm, leg kick, short and level bat path, gap to gap approach, 82 mph exit velocity.  On the infield, soft hands, quick and clean exchange, short arm action, 3/4 arm slot, throws up to 65 mph

Frank Derner IV 2B / 3B / Triad, IL / 2021

Derner is a 5-foot-7 145-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Illinois' 2021 class. He ran an 8.40 60 and has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open set up into a wrap in his hands and a fluid rhythm and dives in his stride, level bat path and hits balls to the pull side, 76 mph exit velocity.  On the infield, reliable hands, fluid footwork, long arm action, high 3/4 arm slot making throws up to 69 mph.

Brice Eiserer 3B / RHP / Carrollton, MO / 2022

Eiserer is a 5-foot-10 140-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran a 7.76 60 and has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, quick tempo in load with weight shift, slight hand load, in line stride, level bat path, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  On the infield, three quarters arm slot, quick catch and throw, active feet quick to the ball, accurate throws, 67 mph positional velocity.

Robert Emmenegger, III RHP / 1B / DeSmet Jesuit , MO / 2021

Emmengger is a lean 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.94 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth pre-pitch rhythm with controlled weight shift to load, loose hands with level bat path, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, over the top arm slot, collects feet and gains ground to throw, clean exchange, accurate throws, 75 mph positional velocity.

Cameron Hailstone SS / 2B / Gillespie, IL / 2021

Hailstone is an athletic and lean 6-foot, 175 pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.76 60 and posted an exit velocity of 85 mph. Impressed at the plate, tall and open set up, smooth load, fast bat speed, middle to opposite field approach, works inside the ball,  Impressed on the infield, soft hands, fluid feet, clean exchange, plays through the ball, long arm action, high 3/4 arm slot, throws at 77 mph.

Konner Hutchings SS / 2B / Liberty-Wentzville, MO / 2021

Hutchings is a 5-foot-10, 168-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event, he ran a 7.14 60 and posted an exit velocity of 86 mph. During batting practice, Hutchings starts in an open stance, in line stride, quiet load, loose and quick hands, explosive swing that produced pop during round. Defensively, Hutchings displays athleticism and quick actions, clean transfers, clean arm action, positional velo of 83 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Landen Johnson 1B / LHP / Westminster, MO / 2021

Johnson is a 6-foot-5, 190-pound, left-handed hitting corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 8.07 60 and posted an exit velocity of 90 mph. At the plate, Johnson starts with an athletic base, slightly open stance, in line stride, quiet hands, mostly level bat path, extension through the baseball, showed a lot of power during his round. Defensively at first base, Johnson is aggressive to the baseball, quick transfer to throw, momentum towards target, positional velo of 77 mph, accurate throws.

Kai Leese 3B / RHP / Fort Zumwalt South, MO / 2021

Leese is a strong 6-foot-3 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 8.08 60 and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, loads weight against back side, minimal hand movement, lands slightly closed, quick bat speed, flashes pop to pull side, mostly middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, controlled actions, fields ball in athletic position, gains momentum in footwork after the catch, 69 mph positional velocity.

Noah Leingang RHP / 2B / Westminster , MO / 2022

Leingang is a 5-foot-10 155-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran an 8.22 60 and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, slides front foot back with toe tap to in line stride, minimal hand movement, level path to contact, slight lift during finish, quick bat speed, loose hands, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, fluid exchange, controlled actions with momentum after the catch, 68 mph positional velocity.

Mathew Leonard 2B / OF / CBC, MO / 2021

Leonard is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 6.60 60 and posted an exit velocity of 92 mph. During batting practice, Leonard starts slightly open, slight weight shift into his load position, in line stride, some rhythm with hands, feel for the barrel. Defensively, Leonard shows his athleticism, fluid footwork, moves well side-to-side, momentum towards target, clean arm action,  positional velo of 80 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Jake Markert SS / OF / Fort Zumwalt South, MO / 2021

Markert is a 5-foot-9, 160 pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.04 60 and posted an exit velocity of 86 mph.  Impressed at the plate, open set up, explosive lower half, fast bat speed, level bat path, gap to gap approach. Markert was clean and impressive on the infield as well, soft hands, quick and fluid feet, quick and clean exchange, athletic and plays through the ball, long arm action, high 3/4 arm slot, throws up to 82 mph. 

Luke Matschiner 2B / SS / Christian Brothers College, MO / 2022

Matschiner is a 5-foot-6 130-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri's 2022 class. He ran a 7.50 60 and has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open and crouched set up into a slightly choppy wrap with his hands, a toe tap into a long stride, fast bat speed with a level bat path and pop to the pull side, good balance throughout swing, 75 mph exit velocity.  On the infield, short arm action with a high 3/4 release making throws with accuracy up to 69 mph across the diamond.

Hunter Moser C / SS / Williamsville, IL / 2022

Moser is a 5-foot-9 140-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Illinois' 2022 class.  He ran a 7.53 60 and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced, open setup, toe tap trigger, bar load, level bat path, flashed line drive abilities, On the infield, soft hands, fluid feet, clean exchange, plays through the ball, long arm action, high 3/4 release, 73 mph throws with carry at times.

John Noonan RHP / 1B / De Smet , MO / 2021

Noonan is a 6-foot, 180 pound left-handed hitting first baseman and right-handed pitcher.  He ran a 7.80 60 and posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. At the plate, tall and balanced set up, smooth load, small leg kick, level bat path, gap to gap approach, 83 mph exit velocity.  On the infield, soft hands, fluid feet, clean exchange, plays through the ball, short arm action, high 3/4 arm slot, accurate throws at 77 mph.

Stephen Reid 1B / RHP / St. Dominic, MO / 2021

Reid is a 6-foot-2 215-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.44 60 and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, leg lift, in line stride, aggressive swing speed with loose hands, middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws, 70 mph positonal velocity.

Gabe Serri RHP / 1B / St. Dominic , MO / 2021

Serri is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.41 60 and posted an exit velocity of 91 mph. At the plate, Serri starts with an open stance, knee pinch in to load, open stride, some rhythm with hands, big swing, high finish with hands, showed some pop during round. On the infield, Serri is aggressive to the baseball, clean transfers, longer arm action, three-quarter release, positional velo of 78 mph, accurate throws.

Foster Seitz SS / 2B / Timberland, MO / 2021

Seitz is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.43 60 and posted and exit velocity of 83 mph. During hittin evaluations, Seitz starts in a wider but athletic stance, some rhythm and looseness with hands, slightly across body with stride, extension through the baseball. Defensively, Seitz has fluid footwork, moves well laterally, quick transfer to throws, loose arm action, three quarter release, positional velo of 79 mph, very accurate throws.

DJ Sherman 2B / RHP / Rockwood Lafayette , MO / 2021

Sherman is a 5-foot-9 135-pound left-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.76 60 and has a 74 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load with fluid rhythm, leg kick, level bat path, opposite field approach hitting line drives at 74 mph.  On the infield, reliable hands, fluid feet, plays through the ball, long arm action, high 3/4 arm slot making throws at 68 mph.

Dalton Short C / 3B / Lutheran St Charles, MO / 2021

Short is a strong and big bodied 6-foot-1, 215-pound, left-handed hitting catcher, corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.82 60 and posted an exit velocity of 94 mph. During batting practice, Short starts slightly opened, simple load, quiet with hands, in line stride, some lift to swing, quick bat, shows barrel control. On the infield, fluid footwork, clean transfers, momentum towards target, high three-quarter release, positional velo of 79 mph, accurate throws.

Luke Smith SS / OF / Parkway South, MO / 2021

Smith is a 6-foot 180-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.77 60 and has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, narrow set up, smooth back, low hands, long stride, fast bat speed, flat bat path, gets extension, aggressive approach, 88 mph exit velocity.  On the infield, athletic, soft hands, fluid feet, clean exchange, plays through the ball, long arm action, high 3/4 arm slot, carry on throws at 82 mph.

Zach Ury SS / 3B / Staunton, IL / 2021

Ury is a 6-foot- 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Illinois' 2021 class.  He ran a 7.93 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, closed set up, smooth load, short stride, short and level bat path. On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, fluid transfer, footwork creates momentum to throw after exchange, mostly accurate throws, 76 mph positional velocity.

Cole Vance SS / OF / Liberty - Wentzville, MO / 2022

Vance is a 5-foot-11 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran a 7.33 60 and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load to back side, calm hands, level path, high finish in hands at time, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, smooth actions, clean exchange, quick hop with footwork after catch to create momentum to throw, accurate throws, 72 mph positional velocity.

Webber is a tall and lean 6-foot-4 180-pound left-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran a 7.52 60 and has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, minimal load, toe tap to stride, aggressive bat speed, power to pull side, hits with leverage, stays under control with quick hands.  On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, fields ball in athletic position, creates momentum in footwork during clean exchange, accurate throws, 76 mph, projection for strength in build.

Mitchell Weitkamp 2B / 3B / Timberland, MO / 2021

Weitkamp is a 5-foot-7 145-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri's 2021 class.  He ran an 8.08 60 and has a 78 mph exit velocity. t the plate, open set up into a swap in his hands, short stride, short and level bat path, hitting balls gap to gap at 78 mph.  On the infield, solid hands with a clean exchange, long but quick arm action, over the top release making throws up to 71 mph.

Landon Willbrand 2B / SS / Timberland, MO / 2022

Willbrand is a 5-foot-8 150-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri's 2022 class. He ran a 7.64 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open set up, fluid rhythm with a wrap in his hands, smooth leg kick, level bat path and good extension, line drive approach, 80 mph exit velocity.  Impressed on the infield, soft hands, quick and fluid footwork, plays through the ball with momentum toward first base, short arm action, 3/4 release, throws up to 74 mph.
