The PBR Future Games is the top underclass showcase event in the country each year. PBR territories from across the country work to put together teams of the top uncommitted, underclass players to compete each year. Team Carolina is made of players from North Carolina and South Carolina.
On Saturday March 28th PBR of NC held its Future Games ID along with its Uncommitted Upperclass Prospect ID at Big League Camp in Marion, NC. Big League Camp is a beautiful facility located next to Lake James that features an all turf baseball field with a spacious indoor facility.
Pitchers and catchers got the day started with catchers going through their defensive workout followed by pitchers throwing bullpens. Trackman was used during the bullpens to gather advanced analytics on each arm. After the bullpens position players ran a laser timed 60 followed by outfielders and infielders going through their defensive workout. BP was set to take place on the field but had to be moved indoors due to thunderstorms and heavy rain in the area. Trackman was used during BP to gather ball flight information.
Throughout the workout, PBR scouts were taking metrics on players while evaluating their complete skill set. Featured below are the Future Games ID Statistical Leaders in several different categories.
Future Game ID by the Numbers
THE 60 YARD DASH
Players ran a laser timed 60 yard dash to start their day. The 60 was ran on an artificial surface.

TRACKMAN MAX EXIT VELOCITY (BP)
During BP, TrackMan tracked ball flight off the bat. One element TrackMan is able to produce is the exit velocity. Below are the top Exit Velocities produced during live BP.

TRACKMAN MAX DISTANCE (BP)
During BP, TrackMan tracked ball flight off the bat. One element TrackMan is able to produce is the distance each hit travels, if in fair territory. Below are the top max distances produced during live BP.
Rank | Name | State | School | Class | Pos | Distance (max) |
1 | Owen Michelson | NC | Enka | 2023 | RHP | 317 ft |

POSITIONAL VELOCITY – INFIELDERS
Infielders were able to workout at shortstop throwing across the infield, or from 1B throwing to 2B and 3B in the pro-style workout. Coaches are working to evaluate rhythm, footwork, hands, exchanges, arm action, accuracy, and carry. To measure arm strength PBR Scouts utilize a radar gun. Below are the top posted positional velocities from the day.
Rank | Name | State | School | Class | Pos | INF Velo |
1 | Cade Gardner | NC | A.C. Reynolds | 2024 | SS | 81 |
2 | Ian McDermaid | NC | Weddington | 2024 | SS | 75 |

5 | Bo Nichols | NC | West Wilkes | 2024 | 1B | 71 |
POSITIONAL VELOCITY – OUTFIELDERS
Outfielders worked out from right field, making throws to the plate. Throws were measured by a radar gun to gauge arm strength. Scouts are also working to see exchange, arm path, carry, and accuracy.
Rank | Name | State | School | Class | Pos | OF Velo |
1 | Nick Coggins | NC | Southlake Christian | 2024 | OF | 87 |
2 | Owen Michelson | NC | Enka | 2023 | RHP | 83 |

4 | Ike Schmidly | NC | Myers Park | 2023 | OF | 80 |
5 | Dylan Davis | NC | Middle Creek | 2024 | OF | 76 |
CATCHER POP TIMES & POSITIONAL VELOCITY
In the pro-style workout, catchers workout from behind home plate, making multiple throws to 2B, simulating a stolen base attempt. Scouts again are looking for a quick, clean transition to the release as well as carry and accuracy on the throw. For catchers, evaluators will put a stopwatch on the “pop time” or the time the ball hits their glove to the time the ball hits the MIF’s glove at 2B. Coaches can also time the transition from when the ball hits the catchers glove to when he is able to release his throw. PBR scouts add the radar gun to put a number on the arm strength out of the crouched position.
Rank | Name | State | School | Class | Pos | Pop Time |
1 | Cameron Rickabaugh | NC | Topsail | 2023 | C | 2.09-2.32 |
